Songwriter: André Cymone Prince

Producer: The Basement Boys

[Intro:]
Man: "Where to?"
Crystal: "Ummm... take me uptown. I gotta take care of somethin'."

[Verse 1]
He saw me walking down the streets
Of your fine city
It kind of turned me on
He looked at me and said, "come here"
I rarely talk to strangers
But he looked so pretty
What can I lose if I'm not [?] a little bit

[Chorus]
Everybody's going
Uptown
That's where I want to be
Uptown
Set your mind free
Uptown
Got my body hot
Get down
I don't want to stop, no

[Verse 2]
As soon as we got there
Good times were rolling
White, black, Puerto Rican
Everybody just a-freaking
Good times were rolling
He started dancing in the streets
Boy's just gone mad
You know, he even made love to me
Best that I ever had

[Chorus]

[Bridge:]
Now where I come from
We don't let society
Tell us how it's supposed to be
Our clothes, our hair, we don't care
It's all about being free

[Chorus]

Everybody's goin'
Everybody's goin'
Everybody's goin'
Everybody's goin'
Everybody's goin'
Everybody's goin'
Everybody's goin'
Everybody's goin'
Everybody's goin'
Everybody's goin'
Everybody's goin'
Everybody's goin'
Everybody's goin'
Everybody's goin'

Crystal Waters

Crystal Waters is a female house musician from the early 1990s. She started off her career with her first studio album, ‘Surprise’, which was the birth of her most popular hit, “Gypsy Woman”. “Gypsy Woman” started Crystal’s career off by peaking at number eight on the US Billboard Hot 100 and at number two in the UK Singles Chart. The song received so much attention that Kim Wayans parodied it on the show, “In Living Color”. It also appeared in an episode of “King of the Hill” (season two, episode six). The song is also featured in the 2007 Wii video game, Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party. During the middle of the year in 1994 on May 17th, Crystal released her second studio album, titled ‘Storyteller’. The album won Vibe’s 1994 Music Poll for Best Club/Dance Album. This album birthed the hit that is known as, “100% Pure Love”. This single reached number eleven on the US Billboard Hot 100. The album also went on to bring out the underrated hits “What I Need”, “Ghetto Day”, and many many more. On June 24th of 1997, Crystal released her third studio album, which is self-titled. The album contains many covers of songs from people like Prince, Dead or Alive, and had a feature from Dennis Rodman. A year later, Crystal got her own “The Best of Crystal Waters” album. The album contains many songs from each of her three studio albums (i.e. “Gypsy Woman”, “100% Pure Love”, “Makin' Happy”). Crystal later went on to have 2 more compilation albums. Crystal has released various songs from then and now with many other collaborators.
