Have been thinking of you
And the long years we moved through
To be friends at the end
Which was not the end
But the start of understanding

Have been thinking of you
And the good things you told me
Just to be friends till the end of the road and longer
At the heart of understanding
At the start of understanding

And I have been thinking of you
And the long years we moved through
Just to be friends till the end
Which was not the end
But the start of understanding
At the heart of understanding

Davey Johnstone

Davey Johnstone is a Scottish rock guitarist, best known for his affiliation with Elton John. He began his career as a folk musician; he was a member of the band Magna Carta and was an in-demand session musician at the time he was introduced to John. He picked up the electric guitar to play with John in 1971, and he has been a permanent member of the Elton John band since 1972. Johnstone’s folk roots show through on some of John’s tracks, for he occasionally contributed banjo, mandolin, and sitar to John’s songs.
