[Verse 1]
Yo! I know it's been a very long time
But the Maxx is here to take the strain off your mind
I know you're wondering what's up with that
And that's why we had to come back
We took a rest to clear our business
So that you would know that we are serious
Here's a word to all our friends
That the true Klymaxx will never end
And get busy

[Chorus]
(Oh oh oh oh, the Maxx is back)
(Oh oh oh oh, the Maxx is back)

[Verse 2]
I betcha think we stayed away too long
And that ain't right, huh
That is why we come back so strong
I know you really wanna, really wanna know the deal
'Cause what you think you know
It just might not be for real

[Pre-Chorus]
We took every opportunity to make it right
Even if it meant we have to work it day and night
The competition now they can't put us to shame
'Cause don't you know, huh
It's all in the name

[Chorus]
The Maxx is back, huh
(Oh oh oh oh, the Maxx is back)
This is no imitation, it's a fact
Klymaxx is back
(Oh oh oh oh, the Maxx is back)
We're still the divas
And we're here to prove we're back on track

[Verse 3]
Make no mistake, the attitude's still there
A new identity, same old savoir-faire
If desperation makes you think of needing a new authority
You better think again
They come with no guarantees (No)

[Pre-Chorus]
And don't you know it's something that can't be replaced
That's the reality you've got to face
Now I'm not bragging, please don't get me wrong
We're here to back up what we're saying
In the words to this song

[Chorus]
The Maxx is back
(Oh oh oh oh, the Maxx is back)
This is no imitation, it's a fact
Klymaxx is back
(Oh oh oh oh, the Maxx is back)
We're still the divas
And we're here to prove we're back on track
The Maxx is back
Oh oh oh oh, the Maxx is back
This is no imitation, it's a fact
The Maxx is back
Oh oh oh oh, the Maxx is back
The one and only divas
And we're here to prove we're back on track

[Bridge]
We took every opportunity to make it right
Even if it meant we have to work it day and night
The competition now they can't put us to shame
'Cause don't you know it's all in the name

[Chorus]
The Maxx is back
(Oh oh oh oh, the Maxx is back)
And you know that! Word! You know
Divas need love too, the Maxx is back
Oh oh oh oh, the Maxx is back
Still the divas
And we're here to prove we're back on track
The Maxx is back (The Maxx is back)
(Klymaxx is back)
(The Maxx is back)
(Klymaxx is back)
(The Maxx is back)
(The Maxx is back)
(Oh oh oh oh)
(Klymaxx is back)
(The Maxx is back)
(Klymaxx is back)
(Oh oh oh oh, the Maxx is back)
If you really wanna know the deal
You know that we're for real
Klymaxx is back, yeah, yeah
(Klymaxx is back)
(Oh oh oh oh, the Maxx is back)
This is no imitation, it's a fact
Klymaxx is back (The Maxx is back)
(Oh oh oh oh, the Maxx is back)
Yeah, oh, oh yeah
The Maxx is back, uh
(Oh oh oh oh, the Maxx is back)
Don't you get no substitute
We're only the originals will do

Klymaxx

Klymaxx is one of the first and most-prominent all-girl funk bands. Getting started in the early 1980’s, the band hit their stride in the middle of the decade with hits like “The Men All Pause,” “Meeting In The Ladies Room,” “I Miss You,” and “I’d Still Say Yes.”

With multiple band members all playing their instruments live, the frontmost members were lead singers Lorena “Lungs” Porter, the feather-voiced Joyce “Fenderella” Irby, and attitudinal rapstress and group founder Bernadette Cooper.

Regarding the creation of the group’s name, Klymaxx, Cheryl Cooley said:
