LE SSERAFIM

LE SSERAFIM (르세라핌) is a South Korean girl group formed and managed by both Source Music and HYBE. They debuted on May 2, 2022 with their first mini album titled FEARLESS, supported by the title track of the same name.

On March 14, 2022, both companies announced the launch of their new girl group and furthermore, the former members of IZ*ONE, Miyawaki Sakura and Kim Chaewon were confirmed to be the part of its lineup. Later on, the individual video teasers were uploaded onto HYBE’s official YouTube channel in mid-April of the same year, unveiling four new other members: Kim Garam, Hong Eunchae, Kazuha and Huh Yunjin, known for representing Pledis Entertainment on the 2018 Mnet survival show Produce 48 in which Chaewon and Sakura participated as well. Soon after, it was revealed that LE SSERAFIM’s first extended play will see its daylight in early May.

The group’s name itself is an anagram for the group’s motto, which is “I’M FEARLESS” and it implies the confidence and strong will to fearlessly move forward without being swayed by the world’s gaze. Where a Seraph is a 6-winged heavenly being, in this case, LE SSERAFIM is a 6-piece group, which is a delegate for this meaning. In addition, Seraphim is mentioned in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, as heavenly beings who are high-ranking angels.
