[Chorus]
It's about the things you say to me in the A.M
It's about the way you hold me in the A.M
Something bout a sweet rendezvous in the A.M
God, I like spendin time with you in the A.M

[Verse 1]
It's about six and the sun's on its way up
I'm half asleep
Waiting for your touch to wake me up
I like the way you call me (Call me)
The way you whisper peace
The things you reveal
God, I know you're real
Nothing like the way you make me feel

[Chorus]
It's about the things you say to me in the A.M
(Like the way you talk to me)
It's about the way you hold me in the A.M
(Like the way you hold me)
Something bout a sweet rendezvous in the A.M. (Oh)
God, I like spendin time with you in the A.M

[Verse 2]
I have to admit, this is the way to start the day
Raptured in love
Jesus, your love takes me away (Takes me away)
I like the way you call me (Call me)
The way you whisper peace
The things you reveal
God, I know you're real
Nothing like the way you make me feel

[Chorus]
It's about the things you say to me in the A.M
(I love to talk to you)
It's about the way you hold me in the A.M
(Love the way you hold me)
Something bout a sweet rendezvous in the A.M
(So sweet sweet)
God, I like spendin time with you in the A.M
(Spending time with you)

[Bridge]
What you do to me
I just can't explain
(I just can't explain)
What it means to me
To hear you call my name
(Hear you call my name)
What a perfect way
For me to start the day
Raptured in love
Jesus, your love takes me away

[Chorus]
It's about the things you say to me in the A.M
(I love, I love you)
It's about the way you hold me in the A.M
(Way you hold me in the A.M.)
Something bout a sweet rendezvous in the A.M
(So sweet to be in your presence, Lord)
God, I like spendin time with you in the A.M

Mary J. Blige

Mary Jane Blige (b. Jan 11 1971) grew up in the projects of Yonkers, New York. A random decision to record a cover of “Caught Up in the Rapture” by Anita Baker in a pop-up recording booth at a mall led MJB to getting signed by Uptown Entertainment. After providing background vocals on Father MC’s hit single “I’ll Do 4 U” in 1990, a young intern at Uptown named Sean “Puffy” Combs ended up executive producing Mary’s 1992 debut album What’s The 411?. Fusing hip-hop beats with Mary’s soulful voice earned her the nickname “Queen of Hip-Hop Soul”.

She followed up her debut with a string of critically acclaimed albums, including 1994’s My Life and 1997’s Share My World, as well as hit singles such as “Not Gon' Cry,” “Family Affair,” “Be Without You,” and “Just Fine.”

She also collaborated with rappers on a number of tracks, including Jay-Z’s “Can’t Knock the Hustle,” Ghostface Killah’s “All That I Got is You,” Wyclef’s “911,” Common’s “Come Close,” and Method Man’s “I’ll Be There for You/All I Need to Get By,” which was a platinum hit and won the two of them a Grammy Award in 1996 for Best Rap Performance By a Duo or Group.
