John Percy Simon, AKA Percee P hails from the Patterson Housing Projects in New York City’s South Bronx, a section of the Bronx rich in hip hop culture. Born on July 9, 1969, he grew up hearing from his window, the budding art form that would later be known as hip hop. He started rapping at the age of 10 and released his first record in 1988. He gradually built a reputation for being a skilled “fast rapper” and a fine lyricist and became a respected figure in the underground scene. He released his first album, Perseverance, in 2007, nearly 20 years after his first single dropped.
