Now the bitter, now the sweet, halfway down life's busy street
Neither quickening the grueling pace, neither leading in the race

Oh yeah
In the race (Say it again)
In the race (In the race)
In the race (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)

Now the bitter, now the sweet, halfway down life's busy street
Hand in hand they always go, That is something all should know

(Oh, yeah)
All should know
(Whoo-oo-ooh, yeah)
All should know

Never pleasure without pain
Never loss apart from gain
Never joy, ooh no, apart from strife
(Don't you know that)
Each of these has its place in life

Place in life (Say it again now)
Place in life, place in life

Bitter, sweet
Bitter, sweet

As the storms of life must rage
Would these only turn the page
Now the day and now the night
Now the wrong and now the right

The day and night, the wrong and right

Now the bitter, now the sweet
Halfway down life's busy street
Equal standing in the life of man
Better do as best you can

Amen (Amen) Amen (Say Amen)
Amen (Amen) Amen (Amen)
Amen (Oh yeah) Amen

Now the bitter, now the sweet
Now the sweet (Now the sweet) now the sweet

Bitter, sweet
Bitter, sweet
Bitter, sweet
Bittersweet
