[Verse 1]
Have you heard
Have you heard
'Bout this girl who was ripped up by her roots
Wanna know what she learned?
Like humility - you win when you lose
I have learned
I have learned
The most horrifying nights have ends
I was hurt
I was lost
In the dark I found the way to a friend

[Chorus]
I am standing here in my ravine
Once again I see a piece of the sky
And my joy'll never be denied
'Cause I was meant to be here
The only place on earth
Where you are near
Where you are near

[Verse 2]
Was a flower
So frail
And I let the trees grow wild around me
Grew so high
Hid the sky
Shaded everything I needed to see
Then one night
Someone came
Took a knife and ripped me up by my roots
Tossed astray
Far away
In my darkest night I started to pray

[Chorus]
I am standing here in my ravine
Once again I see a piece of the sky
And my joy'll never be denied
'Cause I was meant to be here
The only place on earth
Where you are near
Where you are near

[Bridge]
Why do you
Why do you ask
Why I'm not blaming my God (Blaming my God)
I'll tell you
I'll tell you what
He was the only one there

[Chorus]
Well I am standing here in my ravine
Once again I see a piece of the sky
And my joy never will be denied
'Cause I was meant to be here
The only place on earth
Where you are near
I am standing here in my ravine
Once again I see a piece of the sky
And my joy'll never be denied
'Cause I was meant to be here
The only place on earth
Where you are near
Where you are near

Ace of Base

Ace of Base Is a Swedish pop group who scored a string of international hits in the early-to-mid 1990s. They’re best known for their upbeat reggae-tinged dance-pop songs, including “The Sign”, which was the biggest hit of 1994, according to The Billboard US chart.

The group’s core lineup consisted of producers Ulf “Buddha” Ekberg and Jonas “Joker” Berggren, along with singers Malin “Linn” Berggren and Jenny Berggren (the three Berggrens are siblings). In the early ’90s, their debut single “Wheel of Fortune” became a hit in Scandinavia, which led to the group connecting with producer Denniz Pop (who would later spawn the careers Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, and Max Martin).

After the group’s 1992 debut Happy Nation became an international hit (going on to sell 21 million copies), it was re-released in North America in 1993 as The Sign. Three singles from the album became top five pop hits in the US, including “All That She Wants” (#2), “Don’t Turn Around” (#4), and “The Sign” (#1 for six weeks). The Sign went on to sell over 10 million copies.
