Songwriter: Gardner Cole Michael Omartian Amy Grant

[Verse 1]
In the year of 1492
When Colombus sailed the ocean blue
Had he landed on India shore
You may never have come to knock on my door

[Refrain]
Who needs a rhyme or a reason
Some dreams were made to find
So I know that I must follow

[Chorus]
Ask me just how much I love you
You are starlight, I'm Galileo
Even on the darkest night
Oh, I will find the shining light of our love

[Verse 2]
Through the rain clouds, thundering nights
Mr. Franklin stood there, holding his kite
He was crazy, always pressing his luck
But he got what he wanted when lightning struck, yeah

[Refrain]
Who needs a rhyme or a reason
Some dreams were made to find
So I know that I must follow

[Chorus]
Ask me just how much I love you
You are starlight, I'm Galileo
Even on the darkest night
Oh, I will find the shining light
Ask me just how much I love you
You are starlight, I'm Galileo
Even on the darkest night
Oh, I will find the shining light of our love

[Bridge]
I believe in you
In the special love we could share
And maybe one day darlin' you'll turn around
And all I really know is I will be there

[Refrain]
Who needs a rhyme or a reason
This dream was made to find
So I know that I will follow

[Chorus]
Ask me just how much I love you
You are starlight, I'm Galileo
Even on the darkest night oh
I will find the shining light, I will find the shining light
Of our love

(Gospel chorus)
Ask me just how much I love (of our love)
I'm Galileo
Even on the darkest night
Oh, I will find the shining light of our love

Ask me just how much I love you (of our love)
I'm Galileo

Amy Grant

By the time Amy Grant was nineteen, she was Contemporary Christian music’s most celebrated singer. Grant grew up in the Church of Christ where she sang for God two nights a week. As a teen, she decided to pursue a career in music, writing her first song while attending devotional meetings at her high school.

Grant recorded a demo while working as an intern at a recording studio and the owner was so impressed he signed her to his own label and released her first album Amy Grant in 1977. It spawned three top 10 songs on Billboard’s Christian Songs chart.

The following year, Grant began touring while balancing college studies. Her second album My Father’s Eyes was released in April 1979. At its record release party, she met future first husband gospel singer Gary Chapman. He’d written its title track, and it would become her first of many Christian Songs Chart-toppers. Her third album Never Alone came out in 1981 and features the #3 Christian Songs hit “Look What Has Happened To Me”.
