[Verse 1]
I got to run to keep from hidin'
And I'm bound to keep on ridin'
I got one more silver dollar
But I'm not gonna let them catch
The midnight rider

[Verse 2]
I got only the clothes I'm wearin'
And the road goes on forever
I got one more silver dollar
And I'm not gonna let them catch
The midnight rider

[Verse 3]
I own all the clothes I'm wearin'
Some old bed I'll soon be sharin'
Got me one more silver dollar
And I'm not gonna let them catch
The midnight rider

[Chorus]
Not gonna let 'em catch me
Not gonna let 'em catch me
Not gonna let 'em catch me
Not gonna let 'em catch me

[Chorus]
Not gonna let 'em catch me
Not gonna let 'em catch me
Not gonna let 'em catch me
Not gonna let 'em catch me

[Outro]
Come on
Keep on riding
Keep on riding
Keep on riding
Midnight, midnight rider

On his studio albums, he also worked extensively with the Alabama-based Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, which appeared on several of Seger’s best-selling singles and albums.

In 1976, he achieved a national breakout with the studio album Night Moves. The Night Moves title track became his first Billboard Top 5 single and the album started a string six consecutive albums landing in the Billbaord Top 10. The 1980 album, Against the Wind, topped the charts.
