[Verse 1]
Girl, I see you crying
Tears running down your face
You're sick of him lying
Need someone to take his place

I can give you what you ask for
I can give you what you need
I'm down with anything you're down for
Baby, you can count on me

[Chorus]
Whatcha need is someone that cares for you
Whatcha need is someone to see you through
Good times and bad
'Cause you won't ever have to be sad, baby
Whatcha need is someone that cares for you
Whatcha need is someone to see you through
Good times and bad

[Verse 2]
You say that you are lonely
Need someone to hold you tight
You're faithful to him only
But he never treats you right, no
I'll be there when you call me
I'll be right there by your side (by your side)
And whenever you're crying
I'll be there tonight, oh I

[Chorus]
Whatcha need is someone that cares for you
Whatcha need is someone to see you through
Good times and bad
You'll never have to be sad, baby
Whatcha need is someone that cares for you
Whatcha need is someone to see you through
Good times and bad

[Bridge]
And girl you need to know that
Only a fool would let you leave, ooh wee
'Cause all the things you need are right here with me

Friendship...trust...commitment

'Cause I got what you need

[Chorus]
Whatcha need is someone that cares for you
Whatcha need is someone to see you through
Good times and bad
You'll never have to be sad baby
Whatcha need is someone that cares for you
Whatcha need is someone to see you through
Good times and bad
('Cause I'm here to dry your eyes, baby)

Whatcha need is someone that cares for you
Whatcha need is someone to see you through
Good times and bad
Whatcha need is someone that cares for you
Whatcha need is someone to see you through
Good times and bad

[Outro: Michael McCary]
The one thing that matters is your happiness
And I wanna be the one that makes you happy
Let me be the one, I'll give you whatcha need

Boyz II Men

Boyz II Men is an R&B vocal quartet from Philadelphia who became the most successful pop group of the 1990s. They’re best known for their passionate ballads, including the number one hits “End of The Road,” “On Bended Knee,” and “I’ll Make Love To You.”

An early version of the group was founded by Nathan Morris in the mid 1980s while attending the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts, where he recruited students Wanya Morris, Shawn Stockman, and Michael McCary. Singer Marc Nelson was also an early member, but left the group before their big break.

The group—who took its name from New Edition’s song “Boys To Men”—was discovered in 1988 after auditioning for New Edition’s Michael Bivins backstage at a concert. Bivins signed the group to his management company and secured them a contract with Motown Records.
