The story takes place, uhh, I guess like 3 or 4 summers ago
Umm, the summer immediately after I graduated from high school at the condo of my friends Chuck, Trevor and Alicia in Tempe, Arizona
They had all moved in together, they were like my three best friends from high school
We just graduated and they all moved in cause they were gonna go to ASU
So for the summer, this place was like our drunken clubhouse
Like, we would just get blitzed, and I would pass out on the couch and wake up and drive home the next day, great

Um, they had this 4th of July party, and this girl shows up
Now this girl had definitely been in our circle of friends, she was just cute as balls and adorable, just the sweetest girl you could ever possibly know, and everybody loved her

Umm and, when she shows up to this party, and she had had a boyfriend until very, very recently–they broke up
And she shows up at this party and I just remember a moment of "this girl is fucking gorgeous" like amazing, amazing
And it's kinda ON between me and her, it's kinda on, There's a thing
And like we're just talking and it's there–it's just there
We're making out on a balcony, it's great
Um, and then this guy shows up

And now this guy was a year younger than her, two years younger than me
And he was a cool kid–smart, funny, all that stuff
But yeah, it was like her best friend, this is like her best friend, year younger than her
And he had a reputation for just showing up to parties, drink ten shots in a row, and just fucking go nuts and then pass out
And that night, he does that very thing: Shows up 4th of July, drinks ten shots in a row, fucking goes crazy
He doesn't go crazy for long, because before long, he's just human sludge
He's so drunk they just dump him in the bathtub and he's just-you know

And so, it's her best friend, so naturally she goes to his aid and she's a sweetheart and she wants to take care of him and all this stuff, she's bringing him towels and stuff like that
But I still kinda want it to be on, I don't want this to fuck up the thing we had going on
So I go position myself next to her, who's next to him in the bathtub
So she's taking care of her--she's taking care of him, I'm like still kinda trying to-like NOT–I'm aware of the situation, I'm aware there's a dude there puking–but I'm still trying to kinda make it happen

And, but the unfortunate thing is that this kid–whose my friend, her friend, everybody's friend
My bro has–everybody knows–this kind of unrequited love thing for this girl that I'm hitting on, that I made out with, and for like a long time
And I been down that road, I knew it was a fucking suicide mission, I knew it was a terrible idea
And he was my bro, so I guess I should've still respected that even though I knew it was dumb

But I-I don't know, I guess like kids like me and kids like him–these like awkward, like-introverted, bookish-like theatre kids who develop these stupid unrequited love things–like when it finally-something does comes along, we think we deserve it
Like, damn the consequences, damn like right or wrong, we're just like "I DESERVE IT! I'm sensitive, I deserve it!"

So I felt bad, and even in the moment, I knew that it was wrong...but it was just there
And I just-I dunno and like, it was great
We ended up having a thing that summer, it was really--it was cool
But it kind of makes me sound like a dick
And it is a dick--it, it, it was a dick thing
And to this day, I'm, like, feel like a dick about it

Childish Gambino

You can call him Donald Glover, Childish Gambino, or just simply talented. Mr. Glover wears many hats when it comes to entertaining; in the last five years alone, he has been highly successful in the paths of acting, rapping, writing, and performing stand-up.

‘Bino has displayed great versatility over his rap career, from the boasting yet muted Culdesac, to the open and vulnerable yet sweet sounds of Camp, and finally to the brash/broken/sullen tour de force that was Because the Internet. He also has released electronic instrumental work under the moniker Mc DJ.

Donald broke a six-year streak of releasing projects in 2015. Instead, he made up for it by directing the FX series Atlanta—where he is also the creator and the lead actor. This role led him to win the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy. In November 2016, Gambino announced his next LP, “Awaken, My Love!”, which released on December 2nd. His latest effort landed him 5 Grammy nominations in 2018, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year. With two Emmy awards and one Grammy under his belt, he is well on his way to EGOT status.
