Spoken word piece:

Leaving at 11:00, walking past your windows
See the kitchen, full of television??
Men who grow up in silence, need a voice
Old and ordinary, she didn't understand...

Logic was simple, based upon reason
A nice girl wouldn't be out alone
SOME GIRLS GET WHAT THEY ASK FOR
This family we're nice girls
Blocked in by marriage
Secure in his home
PROTECTED
BUT NEVER FREE..

They rape us in the courts
Where the victims go on trial
Rape us with their culture, promises and smiles

Rape us with their wars
To the victor goes the prize
Rape us with big business, security and lies

They take away our dignity
And sell us plastic sex
Take away our choices and leave us no respect

Rape is hurt men, hurting women
Betraying trust
Calculated violence not uncontrollable lust

Rape's a power assertion
From the press to the street
Selling papers, selling products -
Packaged sex, packaged meat

Chumbawamba

Anarcho-pop band from Leeds.

Originally formed in the early 1980s as Chimp Eats Banana, Chumbawamba first emerged in the anarchopunk scene which was dominated by bands such a pacifist punks Crass. As Chumbawamba increasingly differed from their peers in outlook and tactics, they began to adopt a new musical style which incorporated elements of folk music, indie rock and hip-hop.

After drifting between labels, their change in direction culminated in signing a record deal with major label EMI, a choice which sparked outrage amongst their former comrades, outrage that culminated in a “Fuck Chumbawamba” compilation. By chance, Chumbawamba’s new work with EMI resulted in an internationally best-selling single, “Tubthumping”, and a sudden rise to fame.
