[Refrain]
Take a look at unselected cases
You'll find love has been wrecked
By both sides compromising
Amounting to a disastrous effect

[Verse 1]
You hear stories of old, of princes bold
With riches untold, happy souls
Casting all aside to take some bride
To have the girl of their dreams at their side

[Pre-Chorus]
But not me, I couldn't do that
Not me, I'm not like that

[Chorus]
I couldn't sacrifice anything at all
To love

[Verse 2]
I really like you, I'm attracted to you
The way you move, the things you do
I'll probably burn in hell for saying this
But I'm really in heaven whenever we kiss

[Pre-Chorus]
But oh no, you won't change me
You can try for an eternity

[Chorus]
I wouldn't sacrifice anything at all
To love

[Refrain]
Take a look at unselected cases
You'll find love has been wrecked
By both sides compromising
Amounting to a disastrous effect

[Verse 3]
Now I've got things to do, you have too
And I've got to be me, you've got to be you
So take my hand and feel these lips
And let's savour a kiss like we'd savour a sip

[Pre-Chorus]
Of vintage wine one more time
Let's surrender to this love divine

[Chorus]
But we won't sacrifice anything at all
To love

Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode are recognized as one of the most artistically influential bands of the late 20th century. Commercially, they have released 14 studio albums to date, and sold more than 100 million records. Their most recent album, Spirit, hit the streets in March 2017.

The band got their start in Basildon, Essex in 1980, and named themselves after a French fashion magazine. They rose to fame with hits that have become “Just Can’t Get Enough” (1981), “Everything Counts” (1983), and “People Are People” (1984), to name a few. One of their most famous concerts was at the Pasadena Rose Bowl in 1988.

Martin Gore has been the band’s primary songwriter since Vince Clarke left in the early 1980s (and went on to form Yazoo and Erasure). Alan Wilder replaced Clarke on keyboards in 1982, but left in 1995 (reinvesting his creative energy in his band, Recoil, which he had started in 1986). Since then, the band has comprised frontman Dave Gahan, multi-instrumentalist Martin Gore, and keyboardist Andy Fletcher—all of whom are original members.
