'Lost in Paradise' is the most intimate song on the album, I would say. The story about that one is, I wrote it by myself, for myself, just for a really raw, broken moment. Just started writing it without thinking too much, just feeling a lot. The more I listened to it just for myself as we were working on the record, I started thinking, 'maybe it's really good.' So I showed it to the producer and I was like, 'just listen to this. I just feel like maybe I'm not like the only one who thinks this is really cool, but just love listening to it.' He listened to it and right away was like, 'okay, you have to do the song definitely.' But I didn't want to bring the band into it. At first I didn't understand that at all. I just didn't hear it that way. But of course when the producer says, 'let's try something you always try.' We tried it and right away was the right call. I love how big it has become. It wasn't the original thing that I was thinking. I was sort of surprised and that song touches me

Evanescence

Evanescence is an American rock band founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995 by singer/pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody. Evanescence was originally promoted in Christian stores. Later, the band made it clear they did not want to be considered part of the Christian rock genre, like fellow Wind-up Records artists Creed. Some of their most popular hits “Bring Me to Life,” “My Immortal,” and “What You Want.”

In 2014, the band parted ways with their long-term record label Wind-Up and became independent artists. In late 2016, they released a Ultimate Collection box set featuring all their albums along with the 2000 demo album Origin and a B-sides compilation Lost Whispers.

In November 2017, they released their fourth album, Synthesis, featuring a reimagining of some of their past songs plus two new original songs with the spotlight on full orchestra and electronics.
