[Verse 1: Jenny Lewis]
Been beat up and battered 'round
Been sent up, and I've been shot down
You're the best thing that I've ever found
Handle me with care

[Verse 2: Jenny Lewis]
Reputation's changeable
Situation's tolerable
Baby, you're adorable
Handle me with care

[Pre-Chorus: Ben Gibbard]
I'm so tired of being lonely
I still have some love to give
Won't you show me that you really care?

[Chorus: M. Ward]
Everybody got somebody to lean on
Put your body next to mine and dream on

[Verse 3: Jenny Lewis]
I've been fucked off and I been fooled
I've been robbed and ridiculed
In day-care centers and night schools
Handle me with care

[Verse 4: Jenny Lewis]
Been stuck in airports, terrorized
Sent to meetings, hypnotized
Overexposed, commercialized
Handle me with care

[Pre-Chorus: Ben Gibbard]
I'm so tired of being lonely
I still have some love to give
Won't you show me that you really care?

[Chorus: Conor Oberst]
Everybody got somebody to lean on
Put your body next to mine and dream on

[Verse 5: Conor Oberst]
I've been uptight and made a mess
I'll clean it up myself, I guess
Oh, the sweet smell of success
Handle me with care

Jenny Lewis

Jennifer Diane “Jenny” Lewis, born January 8, 1976, is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and actress. She is best known as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for the indie rock band Rilo Kiley.

Lewis first gained prominence in the 1980s as a child actress, appearing in films such as Troop Beverly Hills in 1989 and The Wizard in 1989, as well as the television series Brooklyn Bridge from 1991-93.

In the mid-1990s, Lewis took a break from acting to focus on her musical career, and formed Rilo Kiley in 1998 with fellow former child actor, Blake Sennett, along with Pierre de Reeder and Dave Rock. Rilo Kiley released four albums before they officially disbanded in 2014.
