[Verse 1]
Sara Mae put lipstick on her face
Hoping that it might erase
All the shadows in that place
Shaky footsteps on an unlit path
Wondering if the road would lead her back

[Verse 2]
Billy Jones sits at home all alone
Listening for the telephone
Like a dog waiting for a bone
Counting beads on a rosary
Like a man drifting out to sea

[Pre-Chorus]
Hey, hey, hey
I know it’s been a rough start
But baby, never lose heart
I can’t tell you what’s around the bend
But life will bring you to your knees again
But I can tell you how the story ends

[Chorus]
Hey, hey, hey
Love wins, hey, hey
Love wins, hey, hey
Love wins
Ooh, child
In the end

[Verse 3]
Sara Mae works down at the marketplace
Billy Jones stops in to buy some paper plates
Cash or credit she said to him
He saw her eyes and fell right in

[Pre-Chorus]
Hey, hey, hey
Yeah, I know it’s been a rough start
But baby, never lose heart
I can’t tell you what’s around the bend
Baby, life gon' bring you to your knees again
But I can tell you how the story ends

[Chorus]
Hey, hey, hey
Love wins, hey, hey
Love wins, hey, hey
Love wins
Ooh, child

[Bridge]
Sister hold your head up
And brother take my hand
We’re going walking through the promised land
Hey-dee, hey-dee, hey-dee
High-dee, high-dee, high
We gonna get a piece of the sky

[Chorus]
Love
Love wins, hey, hey
Love wins, hey, hey
Love wins, hey, hey

[Outro]
You know that
You know that love wins
Ooh, in the end
