I know you think that she can love you
Better than I can, but I wanna remind you
That we've been together for a long time
And what we have is truly rare
And though we've had our share of problems
That doesn't mean that we should throw it all away
And not try to work it out
I'm here to tell you that I love you and I need you
It's gonna be always

Here we go again with this crazy love
As I watch you pack your bags
I guess we're breaking up
Why you wanna hurt me like that
Can't we work it out
Like all the times before
I know it ain't easy
But I wanna try again
Till we get it right
Let's try again and again and again
'Cause I believe in what we share
And I don't want you to go, oh, no

Until the last goodbye
I think we're worth one more try, my darlin'
I need you here in my life, oh, yeah
Until the last goodbye, darlin'

I don't wanna try to raise our child alone
We really need you here to make our house a home
Whatever happened to always and forever
You spoke the words so clear
As you held me, oh, so near
Well, you think she'll love you
More than I could love you
But will you run away
When you start to have new problems
So you might as well try to stay
Here with your family
And give it up, give it up for love
Give it up, give it up for love
And hold on

Until the last goodbye
I think we're worth one more try, darlin'
I need you here in my life
Until the last goodbye, darlin'

'Cause I love you and I need you
Until the last goodbye, ooh-ooh-ooh...
I think we're worth one more try, darlin'
I need you here in my life
Until the last goodbye, darlin'

'Cause love takes you through many changes
But ain't no sense in givin' up on us
There's too many years and too much time
For you to not be here and be mine

(Until the last goodbye)
(I think we're worth one more try, darlin')
Until the last goodbye
'Cause I love you and I need you
(I need you here in my life)
(Until the last goodbye, darlin')

Save our family
(Until the last goodbye)
(I think we're worth one more try, darlin')
Until the last, one more try
(I need you here in my life)
Oh, yeah
(Until the last goodbye, darlin')
'Cause I love you and I need you

She won't love you
(Until the last goodbye)
Oh-whoa, like I do
(I think we're worth one more try, darlin')
Last goodbye
(I need you here in my life)
We're gonna hold on, hold on
(Until the last goodbye, darlin')
We're gonna hold on, hold on

(Until the last goodbye)
Ooh...
(I think we're worth one more try, darlin')
Yeah
(I need you here in my life)
'Cause I love you and I need you
(Until the last goodbye, darlin')

She won't love you
No, like I do
'Cause I love you and I need you
Said, I want you
Last goodbye

Jody Watley

Jody Watley is a Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and producer that first danced her way to fame at 14-years-old as a dancer on Soul Train. That experience led show host Don Cornelius and booking agent Dick Griffey to place her and fellow dancer Jeffrey Daniel in the group Shalamar in 1977, with lead singer Howard Hewett added to the group in 1979. They produced the hits “Second Time Around,” “Make That Move,” “This is for the Lover in You,” and “A Night to Remember” before Watley left the group in 1983 due to conflict within the group and a lack of payment from Dick Griffey’s SOLAR Records label.

She released her self-titled debut album in 1987 featuring the #1 Dance hits “Don’t You Want Me,” “Some Kind of Lover,” and “Looking for a New Love,” which also peaked at #1 on the R&B Singles chart and #2 on the Pop chart. This album went Platinum and led to her winning the Grammy for Best New Artist in 1988. Her follow-up album Larger Than Life was released in 1989 and featured the Top 10 Pop hits “Everything,” “Friends” with Rakim, and the #1 Dance and R&B hit “Real Love.” She worked on these albums with Prince bassist André Cymone, who she would later marry in 1991 before separating in 1995.

She released nine studio albums between 1987 and 2006, and in 2008, she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Billboard Music Awards. Her last project was the 2014 EP Paradise on her own Avitone label and she made an appearance on DâM-FunK’s Invite the Light album in 2015 on the track “Virtuous Progression.” She also formed “Shalamar Reloaded” with two new members and continues to tour.
