[Intro]
One, two
One, two, three, four
This here is the story about a househusband who, you know, just has to get out of the house. He's been looking at the, you know, the kids for days and days; he's been watching the kitchen and screwing around watching Sesame Street till he's going crazy!

[Verse 1]
Woke up this morning blues around my head
No need to ask the reason why
Went to the kitchen and lit a cigarette
Blew my worries to the sky

[Chorus]
I'm stepping out
I'm stepping out
I'm stepping out
I'm stepping out

[Verse 2]
If it don't feel right you don't have to do it
Just leave a message on the phone and tell them to screw it
After all is said and done, you can't go pleasing everyone
So screw it

[Chorus]
I'm stepping out
I'm stepping out
I'm stepping out
I'm stepping out

[Verse 3]
Baby's sleeping, the cats have all been blessed
Ain't nothing doing on TV (Summer repeats)
Put on my space suit I got to look my best
I'm going out to do the city

[Chorus]
I'm stepping out
I'm stepping out
I'm stepping out baby
I'm stepping out

[Instrumental Break]

[Outro]
I'm stepping out, hold it down
I'm stepping out
I'm stepping out
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta get out
I'm stepping out, babe, just for awhile
Ain't been out for days
Got to do it tonight
Gimme a break, gimme a break
Gotta get out
Gotta get out
Just for awhile
Just for the night
I'll be in before one

John Lennon

As the founding member of The Beatles, John Winston Lennon (1940-1980) is one of the most recognizable cultural icons of the 20th Century. He is also the other half of the Lennon-McCartney songwriting partnership, alongside fellow Beatle, Paul McCartney.

As a solo artist and through his relationship and collaboration with avant-garde artist Yoko Ono, he became just as recognizable for his political activism.

Lennon was murdered by Mark David Chapman on December 8, 1980, outside of his New York apartment, The Dakota. Since then, his music and message remain timeless.
