[Intro]
In the darkness, of this world
Please give us your light...

[Verse 1: Robert "Kool" Bell]
Someone's watching
But you can't see
Don't you know what he's after?
In the pool hall
Behind the 8 ball
Can't you see who he's after?
Someone's praying
But they keep playing
With their lives
They don't want them
If by sundown
They all can't be found
I don't know what will happen

[Chorus]
We should try to understand
To help our brothers all we can
Give us light, give us lots of light
Yes, we need the light, light of worlds

[Verse 2: Robert "Kool" Bell]
Someone's listening
But you can't hear
Don't you know what he's after?
In the alley (go, go, Sally)
Can't you see what he's after?
Someone's crying
But they keep lying
With their lives
They will play some
Look who's running
Who's that hiding?
Don't you know what he's after?

[Chorus]
We should try to understand
To help our sisters all we can
Give us light, give us lots of light
Yes, we need the light, won't you share the light?
Give us light, give us lots of light
Yes, we need the light, won't you share the light?

[Outro]
In the darkness of this world
Please give us your light...

Kool & the Gang

Kool & the Gang is an American jazz, R&B, soul, funk, and disco group from Jersey City. They were originally named the Jazziacs when they formed the group in 1964.

They went through several musical phases during their recording career, starting out with a purist jazz sound, then funk and R&B, progressing to a smooth pop-funk ensemble, and in the post-millennium creating music with a modern, electro-pop sound.

The group was becoming prominent in the music industry in the 1970s with hits such as “Holly Wood Swinging”, “Jungle Boogie” and “Summer Madness”. However they cemented their legendary status after the addition of lead vocalist James “J.T.” Taylor. With his help they went on to create classic hits such as “Ladies Night”, “Celebration”, “Get Down On It”, “Cherish” and countless others.
