[Intro]
When we were doing this song
Again, we were trying to figure out different ways to make this special and different
Because of the whole acoustic thing, we’re not really used to this
And, we decided to invite a Taiko ensemble up with us
These are Japanese Taiko drums
And I think its a very amazing instrument when they are all played together
So, uh, I’m going to let them do their thing and at the end, we’re going to go to throw me away
But, just let them go first

[Taiko Drum Intro]

[Verse 1]
Flesh wound, flesh wound
With medication, it will fade
Should I assume
That someone hears me when I pray?

[Pre-Chorus]
Love, full of hate
Don't you love how I pray?

[Chorus]
Don't let them throw me away
Aha!
Keep me and I'll be okay
Aha!
Skipping a beat but it plays
Aha!
Don't let them throw me away
Aha!
Don't let them throw me away

[Verse 2]
Screwed up, used up
Crumbled, lying on the floor
Fucked up, shut up
All you did back then was score

[Pre-Chorus]
I'm feeling weak
Missing parts, incomplete

[Chorus]
Don't let them throw me away
Aha!
Keep me and I'll be okay
Aha!
Skipping a beat but it plays
Aha!
Don't let them throw me away
Aha!
Don't let them throw me away
(Don’t let them throw me away)
Don’t let them throw me away
Ahh

[Bridge]
Hold me up into the light
Fix the cracks and fix them right
Keep the pieces in a drawer
Keep them there forevermore
Wake a million thoughts someday
Recycle this in someway
And all that I have to say
Please let them throw me away

[Harmonizing]

[Chorus]
Don't let them throw me away
Aha!
Keep me and I'll be okay
Aha!
Skipping a beat but it plays
Aha!
Don't let them throw me away
Aha!

[Harmonizing]

Don't let them throw me away

Bakersfield friends James “Munky” Shaffer, Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu and David Silveria formed the funk-rock band LAPD in 1989 and moved to Los Angeles with another friend Brian “Head” Welch as their roadie. Later, with Welch as second guitarist, the band named themselves Creep and recorded a demo with pal Ross Robinson.

However, when Shaffer and Welch visited family in Bakersfield, they met Jonathan Davis who added a darker, goth-tinged edge to the band’s heavy groove. Robinson

The band wasn’t dark yet; it had, like, killer grooves and good riffs, but there was some happy edge to it. And when (Davis) walked into the room, it went dark and goth. Basically, during the first song, to audition in the rehearsal room, he started freaking the hell out [laughs]. You couldn’t hear his voice, but you felt chills all over your body, and it was instantly like, “Oh my God, yeah – he’s the one.”
