[Verse 1]
Choose your path, and there's your truth, follow
Carve an inch, and here comes the sorrow
Everything you do never goes away (Won't go away)
Take a chance, and they will erase it
Fight all you can, and they are complacent
Nothing you do can make it all go away (Make it go away)

[Pre-Chorus]
They are in my head now
Exposed, they tear my joy out
Their shadow starts to cast out
Inside I start to lash out

[Chorus]
Tell me who I am
I've done all I can
Tell me why my life keeps getting
Harder and harder and harder
Tell me what to feel
This shit can't be real
Tell me why my life keeps getting
Harder and harder and harder

[Verse 2]
Roll the dice, your number never comes up
Pay the price, and still your life's fucked up
Once again, this evil gets everything (Gets everything)
Run away, it's waiting when you get there
Led astray, it's laughing 'cause it led you there
Yet again, you can't make it go away (Go away)

[Pre-Chorus]
They are in my head now
Exposed, they tear my joy out
Their shadow starts to cast out
Inside I start to lash out

[Chorus]
Tell me who I am
I've done all I can
Tell me why my life keeps getting
Harder and harder and harder
Tell me what to feel
This shit can't be real
Tell me why my life keeps getting
Harder and harder and harder

[Post-Chorus]
Keep on coming for me
Keep on coming for me
Keep on coming for me
Keep on coming for me
Keep on coming for me
Keep on coming for me
Keep on coming for me
Keep on coming for me

[Bridge]
I can't deal
Run away, run away now
It's not real
Come for me, come for me now
I can't deal
Run away, run away now
It's not real
Come for me, come for me now

[Interlude]
Come back
Let's go to sober up
So you'll come back, I'm sober
I can't wait to split this invisible cage
Tell me, bitch, this time I can't fake it
One shot, and fuck yes, I take it
I'll miss 'cause you're always running away
They always get away

[Pre-Chorus]
They are in my head now
Exposed, they tear my joy out
Their shadow starts to cast out
Inside I start to lash out

[Chorus]
Tell me who I am
I've done all I can
Tell me why my life keeps getting
Harder and harder and harder
Tell me what to feel
This shit can't be real
Tell me why my life keeps getting
Harder and harder and harder

[Outro]
Tell me who I am, I am
I've done all I can, I can
Tell me what to feel, to feel
This shit can't be real, be real
Harder and harder and harder and harder and harder
Harder and harder and harder and harder and harder
Harder and harder and harder and harder and harder
Harder and harder and harder and harder and harder
Harder and harder and harder and harder and harder
Harder and harder and harder and harder and harder
Harder and harder and harder and harder and harder
Harder and harder and harder and harder and harder

Bakersfield friends James “Munky” Shaffer, Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu and David Silveria formed the funk-rock band LAPD in 1989 and moved to Los Angeles with another friend Brian “Head” Welch as their roadie. Later, with Welch as second guitarist, the band named themselves Creep and recorded a demo with pal Ross Robinson.

However, when Shaffer and Welch visited family in Bakersfield, they met Jonathan Davis who added a darker, goth-tinged edge to the band’s heavy groove. Robinson

The band wasn’t dark yet; it had, like, killer grooves and good riffs, but there was some happy edge to it. And when (Davis) walked into the room, it went dark and goth. Basically, during the first song, to audition in the rehearsal room, he started freaking the hell out [laughs]. You couldn’t hear his voice, but you felt chills all over your body, and it was instantly like, “Oh my God, yeah – he’s the one.”
