[Verse 1]
The trenches got inherited, the shit can get the scariest
Eazy ain't answer his phone, I had to take my dawg to Elliot
See he was my dawg but he told, that's an embarrassment
When you cop a Rollie in the trenches, gotta cherish it
Try to play both sides, that shit the deadliest
Don't try to play me like I'm dumb with my intelligence
They ain't gon' try to show you love if you ain't relevant
I got people in my life, they got to vanishin'
Them killers gon' go off your words, you gotta establish it
I can count up a million cash, that's on my management
Only The Family, oh-oh, establishment
They gon' love you like you blood, hospitality

[Chorus]
Hate the smell of that blood in the mornin'
It hurt my soul, I heard my homie was an informant, mm
Take it back in the apartments
How you riding 'round in that foreign, your people starvin'?
When you the only one with that cash, they say you a target
Investigations on the phone, they tried to tap me

[Verse 2]
Don't need no snake to rap
You gotta defeat the battle
They don't want us to be together
I'm diggin' in deep with shovels
Catch body, clean the barrel
She think I'm a angel, ooh
But she sleep with a devil
Give me an E for effort
I sip lean, Prometh'
'Zine inside the nigga, yeah
They say I sing it better
I can't leave my brothers
No, we need each other
My kids, they need their parents

[Chorus]
Hate the smell of that blood in the mornin'
It hurt my soul, I heard my homie was an informant, mm
Take it back in the apartments
How you riding 'round in that foreign, your people starvin'?
When you the only one with that cash, they say you a target
Investigations on the phone, they tried to tap me
Hate the smell of that blood in the mornin'
It hurt my soul, I heard my homie was an informant, mm
Take it back in the apartments
How you riding 'round in that foreign, your people starvin'?
When you the only one with that cash, they say you a target
Investigations on the phone, they tried to tap me

Lil Durk

Durk Derrick Banks (born October 19, 1992), better known as Lil Durk, is a rapper, singer, and songwriter from Chicago, Illinois. Durk is best known for his involvement in the drill wave that took the music world by storm in the 2010s. He is the founder of his own record label, Only the Family (OTF).

Durk’s early career was, like many drill artists, plagued with legal issues and accusations of violence. These issues eventually led to his shows being canceled.

In 2012, his career took off with the release of “L’s Anthem” and its French Montana-featuring remix. In 2013, he continued his hot streak with “Dis Ain’t What U Want,” a conscious reflection on his perception in the media and throughout his city. In 2015, he released his debut studio album Remember My Name and the viral sensation, “My Beyoncé” with DeJ Loaf.
