[Hook: Chuck D]
(I say whaddup?)
I got so much trouble on my mind
Refuse to lose (I say whaddup?)
It's your ticket (Whaddup?)
Hear the drummer get wicked (I said whaddup?)
I got so much trouble on my mind
Refuse to lose (I say whaddup?)
It's your ticket (Whaddup?)
Hear the drummer get wicked (Whaddup?)

[Drum break: Travis Barker]

[Verse 1: LL Cool J]
Time to put em in the dirt, somebody get hurt
Hard time, it's rough (Whaddup?)
I took a look at my life, it cuts like a knife
What I have is not enough (Whaddup?)
I got a lot on my mind, cross the line
Homeboy, I cut you up (Whaddup?)
No reason to bribe, I'll 'pose the nine
You'll lose your mind. I said (whaddup?)

[Hook: Chuck D]
I got so much trouble on my mind
Refuse to lose (I said whaddup?)
It's your ticket (Whaddup?)
Hear the drummer get wicked (I said whaddup?)
I got so much trouble on my mind
Refuse to lose (I said whaddup?)
It's your ticket (Whaddup?)
Z-Trip, get wicked (Whaddup?)

[Scratching: Z-Trip]
Hard-hard-hard as hell
Battle-battle anybody
Rock-rock-rock-rock the bells

[Verse 2: LL Cool J]
I can't take it no more, my nerve's so raw
This economy is outta control (Whaddup?)
Kick down your door, put the whipper to your jaw
This time, it's moral (Whaddup?)
I feel so hard, oh my God
Come back and save my soul (Whaddup?)
Never settle for the silver motherfucker in the Bronx
Know my style, give me that gold (Whaddup?)
I came to test ya, under pressure
Let's see if ya balls gon' fall (Whaddup?)
I'll take you mind, now is the time
Hungry, you've been told (Whaddup?)
I've been fighting for my dream my whole life
But this day-to-day grind gets on (Whaddup?)
East-to-West Coast-al, going postal
Action, who wants that roll?

[Hook: Chuck D]
I got so much trouble on my mind
Refuse to lose (I said whaddup?)
It's your ticket (Whaddup?)
Hear the drummer get wicked (I said whaddup?)
I got so much trouble on my mind
Refuse to lose (I said whaddup?)
It's your ticket (Whaddup?)
Bring-bring-bring-bring the noise

[Guitar solo: Tom Morello]

[Verse 3: LL Cool J]
Release the beast, where's my feast?
Feed my hunger pains (Whaddup?)
Kids got to eat, no defeat
My turn to take your brains (Whaddup?)
Shoot the ring, off the king
I have perfect aim (Whaddup?)
And what I bring, is gonna swing
The world like a hurricane (Whaddup?)
I'm gonna show you, what it feels like to go through
The bullshit that I've been through, it would make you mental
It's time to lay down, take off the crown
Business, not a game
Heart stop the pound, the time is now
We gotta break these fucking chains

[Hook x2: Chuck D]
(I say whaddup?)
I got so much trouble on my mind
Refuse to lose (I say whaddup?)
It's your ticket (Whaddup?)
Hear the drummer get wicked (I said whaddup?)
I got so much trouble on my mind
Refuse to lose (I say whaddup?)
It's your ticket (Whaddup?)
Hear the drummer get wicked (Whaddup?)

LL Cool J

Deriving his name from the statement “Ladies Love Cool James,” LL Cool J became a superstar rapper after his Def Jam debut in 1984. He mixed a hardcore hip-hop style from songs like “I’m Bad” with R&B style on songs like “I Need Love,” which led him to multi-platinum success and several awards. He would later venture into movies and television, write several books, and start different business ventures.

Born January 14, 1968, Queens, New York native James Todd Smith began rapping at the age of nine and started to seriously pursue rapping when he was 16 years old after his grandfather bought him music equipment, which he used to create a demo tape that was sent to numerous labels. He was signed by upstart independent label Def Jam, working with founders Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin to release his debut single “I Need a Beat” in 1984, which sold over 100,000 copies. This success helped Def Jam secure a distribution deal with Columbia Records.

LL released his debut album Radio in 1985, which achieved platinum status with help from the hit singles “I Can’t Live Without My Radio” and “Rock the Bells.” After working exclusively with Rick Rubin on his debut, LL worked with the West Coast production crew L.A. Posse on his second album Bigger and Deffer, released in 1987. The album featured two of LL’s signature the hard-edged “I’m Bad” and the “rap ballad” “I Need Love,” which was a Top 20 pop hit, helping the album achieve double platinum status.
