[Verse 1]
This relationship is over
Though my stomach still hurts
And now I'm gonna live alone
Why is the pain much worse?
You're so much better without makeup
Why would you hide your face?
Don't want to spend the night and wake up
Realize I've made a big mistake

[Chorus]
I cannot refuse your eyes
Please don't look at me tonight
My heart beats fast
I know you're there
And I pretend like I don't care
It hurts so bad to know the truth
But I am still in love with you

[Verse 2]
I never meant to keep you waiting
And now your food is getting cold
I keep denying I'm in love with you
My routine is getting old
And now you stand in front of the table
And say you never look back
Your super stupid when you're angry
You only wake up sad

[Chorus]
I cannot refuse your eyes
Please don't look at me tonight
My heart beats fast I know you're there
And I pretend like I don't care
It hurts so bad to know the truth
But I am still in love with you
It hurts too much to know the truth
But I am still in love with you

[Bridge]
No more kisses on your lips, the tender touch is peace
I'd rather die on my two feet than live down on my knees
And you're the girl to get me over what we start to be
And I just can’t get over you, and until you're over me

[Chorus]
I cannot refuse your eyes
Please don't look at me tonight
My heart beats fast I know you're there
And I pretend like I don't care
And I cannot refuse your eyes
Please don't look at me tonight
My heart beats fast I know you're there
And I pretend like I don't care
It hurts so bad to know the truth
But I'm still in love with you
It hurts so much to know the truth
But I'm still in love with you

Maroon 5

Maroon 5 is an American pop rock band. They were originally formed in 1994 as Kara’s Flowers while they were still attending high school. They signed to Reprise Records and released an album, The Fourth World, in 1997. After a mediocre response to the album, the band parted with their record label and attended college, but in 2001, the band regrouped, added James Valentine to the lineup, and pursued a new direction under the name Maroon 5.

Their first big hit came in the form of “Harder to Breathe,” the edgier lead single from their debut, Songs About Jane. The continued success of that song and other singles “This Love,” “She Will Be Loved,” and “Sunday Morning” cemented the quintet as a pop-rock band to keep an eye out for.

However, for their second album, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, they switched to ambing up on slick pop production—and it worked for them. Lead single “Makes Me Wonder” jumped 63 places in one week to reach number one, becoming their first ever #1 single.
