[Intro (Lars Ulrich)]
(One, two)

[Verse 1]
Like a siren in my head and there is no emergency
Like a blind man that is strapped into the speeding driver's seat
Like a face that learns to speak, when all it knew was how to bite
Like a hurt that keeps me focused though I think I've gone astray
Like a low-grade nightmare that I must awaken from each day
Like a dream, a beautiful dream
Not worthy of so I deny

Yeah

[Pre-Chorus 1]
You close your eyes and try to wish it all into place
You never opened them so it passed you by
You close your eyes so you may never fall from grace
You open just in time to say goodbye

[Chorus]
Oh, almost like your life
Almost like your endless fight
Struggling along
Balancing in right and wrong
Why is it so hard
Always pull the joker card
Almost like your fight
And there it went
Almost like your life

[Verse 2]
Like a wound that keeps on bleeding to remind me not to think
Like a spring that cannot be in current till it's time to drink
Like a puzzle, with missing pieces, and the box is thrown away
Like a release from prison that you didn't know you're in
Like a fight to live the past, I prayed to leave from way back then
Like a general without a mission, until the war will start again

[Pre-Chorus]
You close your eyes and try to wish it all into place
You never opened them so it passed you by
You close your eyes so you may never fall from grace
You open just in time to say goodbye

[Chorus]
Almost like your life
Almost like your endless fight
Struggling along
Balancing in right and wrong
Why is it so hard
Always pull the joker card
Almost like your fight
And there it went
Almost like your life

Yeah, ooh yeah

Oh yeah

[Guitar Solo: Hammett]

[Bridge]
Like a touch from hell to feel how hot, that it can get if you get caught
Like a touch from heaven on this breeze, that brings you straight down to your knees
Like a touch from hell to feel how hot, that it can get if you get caught
Like a touch from heaven on this breeze, that brings you straight down to your knees

Oh yeah

Yeah

[Chorus]
Yeah, almost like your life
Almost like your endless fight
Struggling along
Balancing in right and wrong
Why is it so hard
Always pull the joker card
Almost like your fight
And there it went
Almost like your life

That was just your life

Metallica

Like Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden before, Metallica has managed to transcend the genre from which it was originated. To their metal fanbase they are considered one of the Big Four bands of thrash metal, alongside Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer; however Metallica is also one of the most commercially successful bands in all of rock music, having sold 110 million records including the 16x platinum Metallica, which stands as both the highest selling metal album of all time and most successful album of the past 25 years.

Metallica was formed in 1981 in Los Angeles after drummer Lars Ulrich placed an advert in the classifieds newspaper The Recycler, which was answered by singer/rhythm guitarist James Hetfield. They were soon joined by lead guitarist Dave Mustaine, who later formed Megadeth after being kicked out of the band because of his substance and alchohol abuse, and bassist Ron McGovney, a childhood friend of Hetfield. These two early members were replaced with Cliff Burton (who relocated the band to San Francisco) and ex-Exodus lead guitarist, Kirk Hammett to form the band’s classic line-up.

The band released three albums, 1983’s Kill ‘Em All, 1984’s Ride The Lightning and 1986’s Master of Puppets before the tragic and untimely death of Cliff Burton on September 27th, 1986.
