[Verse 1]
Just sit and wait, don't move
Just hesitate
You can hope and pray
You can moan
Maybe things will change

[Pre-Chorus 1]
You feel your soul
Get hollowed out
While the world implodes
You just live without

[Verse 2]
She walks, she runs
She fights almost as one
And finds her voice
She’ll march
She has no choice

[Pre-Chorus 2]
She's crushed by thoughts
At night of men
Who want her rights
And usually win

[Chorus]
But she's alive
Oh, she’s alive
She's alive
Oh, she's alive

[Verse 3]
He screams, he shouts
The heads on the TV bow
They take the bait
They mirror waves of hate

[Pre-Chorus 3]
They break down walls
To free their sins
And then their hearts
Come caving in

[Verse 4]
Oh, I watch, I think
I dance
And sometimes I drink
I sing my songs
I'll hope someone sings along

[Pre-Chorus 4]
If I should break
My silent streak
Will knives come out
To cut my cheeks?

[Chorus]
Oh, I'm alive
Yes, I'm alive
But I'm alive
Oh, I'm alive
I’m alive
Oh, I’m alive
Yes, I'm alive
Yes, I’m alive

[Outro]
I care a lot
I know the things I'm not
It's alright, it's okay
And it’s not, maybe things will change

Norah Jones

The daughter of Beatles collaborator Ravi Shankar (her estranged father whom she had little contact with until her adult years), Norah Jones came into her own after studying at Dallas Booker T. Washington School of the Arts. She later spent two years at the University of North Texas' lauded music program in Denton, Texas – alma mater of such diverse music greats as rocker Don Henley and stalwarts Roy Orbison and Pat Boone.

Jones' goal was always to get to New York City, and she succeeded there after years of tough starter music gigs and the almost-cliched waitress jobs. Her debut album Come Away With Me won 5 Grammy Awards for Jones herself, including “Album of the Year”, and “Record of the Year.” Additionally, it won 3 Grammy awards for “Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical,” “Producer of the Year, Non-Classical,” and “Song of the Year,” for collaborators on the album. It has been Certified 10x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA, having sold 10 million albums.
