[Verse 1]
Mercury is rising still
Turn the fan on high
I won't step on my own shadow
No-one wants to cry
Someone put a pox on me
I'll spit in their eyes

[Chorus]
Summer turns to high

[Verse 2]
With my bedsheet cape and sandals
Circle citronella candles
Summer's here the light is raising hopes and dragonflies
If those hopes are overshadowed by cotton-candy, caramel-apple

[Chorus]
Summer turns to high
Summer turns to high
Summer turns to high
Summer high

[Verse 3]
After wine and nectarines the fireflies in time
Move like syrup through the evening with a sweet resign
I won't pine for what could have been
I'm preoccupied

[Chorus]
Summer turns to high
Summer turns to high
Summer turns to high
Summer high

R.E.M.

R.E.M. were an American rock band from Athens, Georgia, formed in 1980 by singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills, and drummer Bill Berry.

Berry quit the band in April 1997, as they were getting together to record demos for the album Up. He was not replaced on a permanent basis, but the band used an assortment of drummers in his place.
