[Chorus]
Now I can say in less than a day we'll be underway on our mission to Mars
Theoretical themes, radical schemes, chasing our dreams on our mission to Mars
Tomorrow we'll say that this is the day we'll be on our way on the mission to Mars

[Bridge]
Say goodbye to all your friends
Now a whole new life begins
As the universe's mysteries unfold
And the audience back home is holding on
With bated breath
To hear the stories that are waiting to be told

[Chorus]
Now I can say that this is the day we'll be on our way on our mission to Mars
Theoretical themes, radical schemes, chasing our dreams on our mission to Mars
Astrophysical plans, political sands, it's all in our hands on our mission to mars
Sparks and quarks, they glow in the dark
They'll someday remark as a walk in the park, this mission to Mars

[Chorus]
Now I can say in less than a day we'll be on our way on the mission to Mars
Now I can say that this is the day we'll be on our way on the mission to Mars

Styx

Styx is a rock band from Chicago formed in 1970. They enjoyed great success with pop rock and hard rock songs, and became famous for their power ballads and album releases of the mid 1970s and early 80s.

The band has gone through some famously nasty internal struggles, drug problems, illnesses and deaths, but continues to perform today (with a significantly altered line-up). Tommy Shaw, from Montgomery, AL, left but returned to the band. Drummer John Panozzo developed a debilitating drinking problem and ultimately died. Dennis DeYoung developed an acute case of photosensitivity, and he left the band. They fought among themselves for control of the band name. Glen Burtnik also left and returned, this time on bass, to replace Chuck Panozzo (John’s brother), who had also left the band. (whew.)
