Well, they blew up the chicken man in Philly last night
And blew up his house, too
Down on the boardwalk, they're gettin' ready for a fight
Gonna see what these racket boys can do

Trouble busin' in from outta state
And the D.A. can't get no relief
Gonna be a rumble out on the promenade
And the gamblin' commission's hangin' on by the skin of its teeth

Everything dies, that's a fact
Maybe everything that dies someday comes back
Put your makeup on, fix your hair up pretty
And meet me tonight in Atlantic City

I got a job and I tried to put some money away
But I got debts no honest man can pay
So I took what I had from the Central Trust
And I got us two tickets on that Coast City bus

Everything dies, that's a fact
Maybe everything that dies someday comes back
Put your makeup on, make your hair up pretty
And meet me tonight in Atlantic City

Now our luck may have died and our love's gone cold
But with you forever I'll stay
We're goin' out tonight where the sands turn to gold
So put on your stockings, girl, the night's gettin' cold

Everything dies, that's a fact
Maybe everything that dies someday comes back

I been lookin' for a job but it's hard to find
Down here it's just winners and losers and don't get caught on the wrong side of that line
I'm tired of comin' out on the losin' end
Last night I met this guy, I'm gonna do a favor for him
Last night I met this guy, I'm gonna do a favor for him
Last night I met this guy, I'm gonna do a favor for him
Last night I met this guy
Last night I met this guy
Last night I met this guy, I'm gonna do a favor for him

Everything dies, that's a fact
Maybe everything that dies someday comes back
Everything dies, that's a fact
Maybe everything that dies someday comes back
Everything dies, that's a fact
Maybe everything that dies someday comes back
Everything dies, that's a fact
Maybe everything that dies someday comes back

Everything dies, that's a fact
Maybe everything that dies someday comes back
Everything dies, that's a fact
Maybe everything that dies someday comes back

The Hold Steady

The Hold Steady is an American indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2004. Noted for their “lyrically dense storytelling,” and classic rock influences, the band’s narrative-based songs frequently address themes, including drug addiction, religion and redemption, and often take place within the city of Minneapolis.

Formed four years following the break-up of vocalist/guitarist Craig Finn and lead guitarist Tad Kubler’s former band, Lifter Puller, The Hold Steady released their debut album, Almost Killed Me in 2004, and came to prominence with the release of their third studio album, Boys and Girls in America, in 2006.
