[Intro: The Jackson 5, Michael Jackson]
So glad (So glad), so glad (So glad), so glad
To be back in your arms

[Instrumental]

To be back in your arms
So glad (So glad), so glad (So glad), so glad
To be back in your arms
Thank you, baby (Thank you, baby)
Thank you, baby
Be back where I belong

[Verse 1: Michael Jackson]
Oh, I went out to do my thing
And I was totally rejected
I put you down for love unknown
But it wasn't what I expected
So frightened and confused
I came running back to you
I got right down on my knees
And said "Darling, won't you please
I don't know why you did it
But I'm not too proud to admit it, baby"

[Chorus: Jackson 5, Michael Jackson]
Thank you, baby
Thank you, baby
Back where I belong
It's great to be here (Great to be here), ooh-ooh
It's great to be here in your arms
Back where I belong

[Verse 2: Michael Jackson]
Adventure grabbed my heart
And took me away from you, honey
I met all kinds of pretty girls
In every town that I passed through
But that fiery señorita
Burned me down in Mexico
And I got kisses cold as ice
From my Alaskan Eskimo
I feel guilty and ashamed
But I'm gonna say it just the same, baby

[Chorus: Jackson 5, Michael Jackson]
Thank you, baby
Thank you, baby, yeah
Back where I belong
It's great to be here (Great to be here), ooh-ooh
It's great to be here in your arms

[Instrumental]

[Bridge: Michael Jackson, The Jackson 5]
Yeah, baby

[Instrumental]

Yeah, baby
(So glad) So glad, (So glad) so glad
(So glad to be back in your arms)

[Chorus: Michael Jackson, The Jackson 5]
It's great to be here (Great to be here)
It's great to be here in your arms
(Back where I belong)
Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh
It's great to be here (Great to be here), ooh-ooh
It's great to be here in your arms, yeah
(Back where I belong)
It's great to be here (Great to be here)
It's great to be here in your arms
Baby, baby, baby, baby, yeah
(Back where I belong)
It's great to be here (Great to be here)
It's great to be here in your arms
(Right where I belong) I'm so glad
It's great to be here (Great to be here), ooh-ooh
It's great to be here in your arms
Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh
(Back where I belong)
It's great to be here (Great to be here)
It's great to be here in your arms
(Back where I belong) I'm so glad
Ooh, it's great to be here (Great to be here)
Ooh, it's great to be here, ooh-ooh, yeah
(Back where I belong) I'm so glad
It's great to be here (Great to be here)
It's great to be here in your arms, baby
(Back where I belong)

[Outro: Michael Jackson, The Jackson 5]
Thank you, baby, ooh
Thank you, baby, ooh
Darling, oh-oh-oh-oh, thank you, back in your arms
Darling, oh-oh-oh-oh, thank you, back in your arms
Darling, oh-oh-oh-oh, thank you, back in your arms

[Instrumental]

The Jackson 5

The Jackson 5 were originally formed in 1963 under the name, The Jackson Brothers. The founding members were Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon. Michael would join the group as the lead singer a year later, a move which pushed Jermaine to sing the backing vocals and play the lead guitar.

After participating in a series of talent shows, they entered the professional music scene in 1967, signing with Steeltown Records and releasing ten singles. In 1969, they left Steeltown Records in order to sign with Motown.

In 1975, most of the Jacksons had opted out of recording any more music for Motown, expressing desires to have creative control over their songs, as well as royalties. Learning that they were earning only 2.8% of royalties from Motown, Joe Jackson, the father and manager of the group, began to negotiate a lucrative contract with Epic records, which offered a royalty rate of 20% per record. The deal was completed in June 1975. As Motown owned the name The Jackson 5, the group simply renamed themselves The Jacksons.
