Songwriter: Sting

You consider me your young apprentice
Caught between the Scylla and the Charybdis
I'm hypnotized by you if I should linger
And I’m staring at the ring upon your finger

I have only come here seeking knowledge
Things they would not teach me of in your college
I can see the destiny you sold
Turn into a shining band of gold

I'll be wrapped around your finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger

Mephistopheles is not your name
But I know what you’re up to just the same
I will listen hard to your tuition
And we'll see what comes of its fruition

And I'll be wrapped around your finger, oh yes
I'll be wrapped around your finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger

Devil and the deep blue sea behind me
I vanish in the air, you'll never find me
And I will turn that face into alabaster
And then you'll find your servant is your master

And you’ll be wrapped around my finger
You’ll be wrapped around my finger
You'll be wrapped around my finger
You’ll be wrapped around my finger

The Paper Chase

The Paper Chase was an alternative rock band formed in 1997 and fronted by recording engineer/producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Explosions In The Sky, Swans). Their music was usually macabre in nature, and incorporated elements of noise rock, art rock, indie rock, and punk.

After their breakup in 2010, John Congleton formed The Nighty Nite, a spiritual successor to The Paper Chase.
