[Intro]
This is for the lovers holding hands in the car
This is for the lovers, no matter where you are
This is for you (It's for you, it's for you, it's for you)
This is for you (It's for you, it's for you)
This is for the lovers just getting on their feet
This is for the lovers 'bout twenty years deep
This is for you (It's for you, it's for you, it's for you)
This is for you (It's for you, it's for you)
Oh yeah

[Verse 1]
It's a beautiful thing
When it's shared between two
The most beautiful thing about it
That it's so much more than you
There ain't nothing in the world like being with your lover
Nothing in the world like seeing one another
Happy with the one you need the most, yeah, ahh

[Pre-Chorus]
I know somebody's gonna make love to this song tonight
Tonight, tonight
I know somebody's out of town
And they're calling home tonight
Let me tell you what they're sayin' right now
They're sayin'

[Chorus 1]
It ain't hard to tell when it's something real
You can have the world, all you want is them
Even when you're in a crowd
And you're spotted from a mile and
That's when you know love is worth it

[Chorus 2]
When it's going wrong, and you never give up
When you're on the phone, you never hang up
Even when you're feeling down
They can always make you smile and
That's when you know love is worth it

[Bridge]
This is for the lovers holding hands in the car
(Holding hands in the car)
This is for the lovers, no matter where you are
(No matter where you are)
This is for you (It's for you, it's for you, it's for you)
This is for you (It's for you, it's for you)
This is for you, baby

[Verse 2]
Some people feel it, they let it show
Some people miss it, they let it go
Some people doubt it, I'ma tell you now
They don't know a thing about it
That's why they doubt it

[Verse 3]
Some people give it, some people take it
Some people try to but they can't fake it
That's why when it's official, you just can't walk away
And you can trust me when I say

[Pre-Chorus]
I know somebody's gonna make love to this song tonight
Tonight, tonight
I know somebody's out of town
And they're calling home tonight
Let me tell you what they're sayin' right now

Whitney Houston

Known across the pop culture spectrum as the “Queen of Pop” and “The Voice” for her mezzo-soprano octave, Whitney Elizabeth Houston left an indelible impression upon pop culture. She is one of the most successful artists of all time, with more than 200 million albums sold worldwide.

Born August 9, 1963, Houston grew up singing as part of the gospel choir at her local church. She was surrounded by powerful voices in her own family (mother Cissy Houston, cousin Dionne Warwick, godmother Darlene Love, honorary aunt Aretha Franklin). After working as a model and commercial actress in the early 1980s, Whitney was discovered during a New York City nightclub performance, which led to her signing a contract with Clive Davis at Arista Records. Whitney’s first song was a duet in 1984 with Teddy Pendergrass on “Hold Me.”

She released her self-titled début album the following year, which catapulted her into superstardom as the album topped the Billboard 200 for 14 non-consecutive weeks before becoming the top-selling album of 1986, eventually achieving diamond status in the US and selling over 22 million copies worldwide. The singles “Saving All My Love For You,” “How Will I Know,” and “Greatest Love of All” topped the Billboard Hot 100 and achieved platinum status. The music video for “How Will I Know” received heavy rotation on MTV, which was uncommon for Black women at the time. She took home the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance Grammy Award for “Saving” in 1986; her performance at the Grammys of “Saving” later won her an Emmy award. She also won seven American Music Awards between 1986 and 1987.
