Shortly after her parents' death, she was taken in by her aunt and then-manager, Catherine Ortiz, who helped her build and propel her career in the music industry. She then became a world-renowned teen idol, mainly recognized for her catchy pop tunes about self-empowerment, but also for her eccentric outfits and quirky hairstyles.
