Selena Gomez and K-pop girl group BLACKPINK made their first collaborative track in the summer of 2020, dropping the track “Ice Cream”, which would be on BLACKPINK’s October 2020 album entitled simply THE ALBUM.
Prior to the release, members Rosé and Jisoo met Gomez at the Coach New York Fashion Week in 2018, however, the rest of the members have yet to meet Gomez in person. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the music video was filmed in the girls' respective countries – Gomez in Los Angeles, California, and BLACKPINK in South Korea.
To commemorate the collaboration, Gomez posted to her Instagram, a picture of her eating ice cream with the caption,
