Florida rapper Jahseh Onfroy, better known as XXXTENTACION, and Ontario rapper Daystar Peterson, better known as Tory Lanez, first collided on the Dancehall cut, “Hot Gyal” from X’s posthumous album Bad Vibes Forever. X was a notable fan of Tory’s; on SoundCloud, X liked every track from Tory’s 2014 album Lost Cause.
The unreleased track “FORTNITE”, which surfaced online on January 2 2020, was intended to be released under both artists names as part of Tory’s 2018 album LoVE me NOw. When asked why the track didn’t release, Tory “the business side didn’t let me clear it in time.”
