[Intro]
Ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh

[Verse 1]
First I am spotted across the room
Sussed out for the degree of naïveté
When I make the cut, then all systems go
And you take your first step toward me

[Chorus]
My eyes are invitations, my welcome sign is bright
My armor is porous enough to be worked by your design
My honesty is commendable but won't pull your heartstrings
This magnet for predators is dying to be discerning

[Verse 2]
Your system of madness to mimic connection
Then you engender my trust as you pounce
You isolated and then divert attention
Distract from deception keep me in the dark

[Chorus]
My eyes are invitations, my welcome sign is bright
My armor is porous enough to be worked by your design
My kindness is commendable but won't pull your heartstrings
This magnet for predators is dying to be discerning

[Bridge]
Ooh, ooh, aah
Ooh, ooh, aah
Ooh, ooh, aah
Ooh, ooh, aah

[Verse 3]
You kept me off balance with your charming deflection
You kept me distracted, couldn't pick this apart
What started as union, turned to isolation
And you are obsessed with your prey

[Chorus]
My eyes are invitations, my welcome sign is bright
My armor is porous enough to be worked by your design
My trusting is commendable but won't pull your heartstrings
This magnet for predators is learning to be discerning

[Outro]
Oh, oh, oh, oh

Alanis Morissette

Alanis Nadine Morissette was born on June 1, 1974, in Ottawa, Canada. At age 6, she began taking piano lessons, and by the time she was 9, she was writing her own songs.

When she was 11, Morissette joined the cast of a Nickelodeon children’s show called You Can’t Do That on Television, and saved up her earnings. In 1987, she used them to self-release her first track, “Fate Stay With Me.” The song caught the attention of record label MCA Canada; at age 14, Morissette signed a contract with the company. She released a self-titled album, Alanis, in 1991, which went platinum. Quickly following up the success of her first album, Morissette released Now Is The Time a year later, though it did not reach the same level of popularity.

In 1994 Morissette moved to Los Angeles teamed up with industry veteran Glen Ballard, and she began to approach songwriting more organically.
