[Verse 1]
Thought I'd end up with—
But it wasn't a match—
Wrote some songs about—
Now I listen and laugh
Then almost got married
And for her I'm so grateful
Wish I could say, "Thank you" to Malcolm
'Cause he was an angel

[Pre-Chorus]
One taught me love
One taught me patience
One taught me pain
Now, I'm so amazing
I've loved and I've lost
But that's not what I see
Look what I've got
Look what you taught me
And for that, I say

[Chorus]
Thank you, next
Thank you, next
Thank you, next
I'm so, I'm so grateful for my ex
Thank you, next
Thank you, next
Thank you, next
I'm so, I'm so grateful for my—

[Verse 2]
Drip too hard, don't stand too close
You gon' mess around and drown off this wave
Doin' all these shows, I've been on the road
I don't care where I go, long as I get paid
Bad little vibe, she been on my mind
Soon as I get back, she get slayed
Do this all the time, this ain't no surprise
Every other night, another movie gettin' made

[Chorus]
Next
Thank you, next
Thank you, next
I'm so, I'm so grateful for my ex
Thank you, next
Thank you, next
Thank you, next
I'm so, I'm so grateful

[Verse 3]
Needless to say, I keep her in check
She was all bad-bad, nevertheless
Callin' it quits now, baby, I'm a wreck
Crash at my place, baby, you're a wreck
Needless to say, I'm keeping her in check
She was all bad-bad, nevertheless
Callin' it quits now, baby, I'm a wreck
Crash at my place, baby, you're a wreck, oh yeah

[Verse 4]
Then you're left in the dust, unless I stuck by ya
You're the sunflower, I think your love would be too much
Or you'll be left in the dust, unless I stuck by ya
You're the sunflower, you're the sunflower
Ooh, you're the sunflower

[Chorus]
I'm so, I'm so grateful for my ex
Thank you, next
Thank you, next
Every other night, another movie gettin' made
