[Intro: Aretha Franklin & Whitney Houston]
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be, yeah

[Verse 1: Aretha Franklin]
You've been hangin' 'round my boyfriend
You've been sayin' that he's sweet, yeah
Well, girl, I know that you've been talkin'
Because that talk is on the street
You say that you are gonna steal his heart
Well, sweetie, you ain't gonna get that far
You're after somethin' that don't belong to you
Well, girlfriend, I've got news for you
What are you trying to say, Miss Thang? Huh

[Chorus: Both, Aretha Franklin]
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
He ain't never, ever, never, never, never
Never, never, never, never, never, never
Gonna be your man

[Post-Chorus: Aretha Franklin & Whitney Houston]
Ah, oh, yeah
Oh, ooh
Hey

[Verse 2: Whitney Houston & Aretha Franklin]
Well, I just ain't the kind of woman
To pick the fruit off of your tree, girl
And you keep sayin' that is your man
But that ain't what he said to me
See, he blows me kisses as he drives away
He sends me roses in the middle of the day, yeah
You think it's you that he's thinkin' of
But I'm the one that he really, really loves, girl
So what am I trying to say? Don't diss me, girl

[Chorus: Both, Whitney Houston & Aretha Franklin]
I said, it isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
He ain't never, ever, never, never, never
Never gonna be yours (Sing)
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
Oh, it isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
He ain't never, ever, never, never, never
Never gonna be your man, girl

[Interlude: Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston & Both]
What are you doin', layin' and hangin' back?
Don't you know it, girl?
Mmhmm, just as I suspected (Hey)
You been talkin' that la-la, and that ya-ya
And that yin and that yang, but the man is mine
Hey

[Bridge: Aretha Franklin & Whitney Houston]
He blows me kisses as he drives away
He sends me flowers in the middle of the day, yeah
You think it's you that he's thinkin' of
I know I'm the one that he really, really, really loves
What am I tryin' to say Miss It?
What are you tryin' to say?
Get real

[Chorus: Both, Aretha Franklin & Whitney Houston]
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
He ain't never (No), ever (No), never (No), never (No), never (No)
Never gonna be yours (Sing)
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
Oh, it isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
He ain't never (No), ever (No), never (No), never (No), never (No)
Never gonna be your man
Be your man

[Interlude: Aretha Franklin & Whitney Houston]
That's Aretha
Oh, woah
Ah (Yeah, yeah)
So now, what is this?
Well, you know
And my man is supposed to be interested in you?
That's what I'm saying
You know, I realize that you're under pressure
Yes, I am
That you're suffering from delusions
Well
Don't be ridiculous
I'm not
Get real
You better get real

[Chorus: Both, Aretha Franklin & Whitney Houston]
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
He ain't never (No), ever (No), never (No), never (No), never (No)
Never gonna be yours (Sing)
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
Oh, it isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be
It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be

Aretha Franklin

Aretha Franklin is both a 20th and 21st century musical and cultural icon known simply by her first Aretha. She is the reigning and undisputed “Queen Of Soul” with a legacy that spans five decades. A native of Detroit, Michigan, Aretha began her career singing gospel at her father, minister C. L. Franklin’s church as a child. In 1960, at the age of 18, Aretha embarked on a secular career, recording for Columbia Records with modest success.

After moving to Atlantic Records in 1967, she released a steady string of US top ten hits through 1973 including “Spanish Harlem”, “Chain Of Fools”, “Baby I Love You”, “Since You’ve Been Gone”, “Daydreaming”, “The House That Jack Built”, “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman", ”Think“ and her first chart-topper “Respect” – a song that also won Aretha her first of 18 Grammys. During this time, several of her songs were also successful overseas.

By the mid-70s, Aretha’s commercial success waned and she left Atlantic for Clive Davis' Arista Records in 1980. Her 1982 song “Jump to It,” returned her to the top 40 for the first time in six years. 1985’s Who’s Zoomin' Who? got her back into the top 10 twice with its title track and “Freeway Of Love”. Four more songs reached the top 40 through 1986.
