Who'll walk me down to church when I'm sixty years of age
When the ragged dog they gave me has been ten years in the grave
And senorita play guitar, play it just for you
My rosary has broken and my beads have all slipped through

You've hung up your great coat and you've laid down your gun
You know the war you fought in wasn't too much fun
And the future you're giving me holds nothing for a gun
I've no wish to be living sixty years on

Yes I'll sit with you and talk let your eyes relive again
I know my vintage prayers would be very much the same
And Magdelena plays the organ, plays it just for you
My rosary has broken and my beads have all slipped through

Who'll walk me down to church when I'm sixty years of age
When the ragged dog they gave me has been ten years in the grave
'Cause the future you're giving me holds nothing for a gun
I've no wish to be living sixty years on

Brandi Carlile

Brandi Carlile (born June 1, 1981) is an award-winning singer-songwriter, whose music ranges from Americana, to country, pop and folk-rock. Known for her raw, powerful vocals and intense stage prescence, she initially gained attention with her sophomore album The Story in 2007. Over a decade later, she earned six Grammy nominations for her 2018 album By The Way, I Forgive You, the highest-charting album of her career that made her the most-nominated woman that year.

In 2019, Carlile had a busier year than ever, having co-founded the female country supergroup The Highwomen, and co-producing country legend Tanya Tucker’s comeback album While I’m Livin'.

In the early 2000s, she met twins Phil and Tim Hanseroth, who became her long-time bandmates and songwriting collaborators. According to an interview in No Depression, the three consider themselves a band despite Carlile’s name being on the endeavor, and they equally share their publishing equity, no matter who wrote any particular song.
