And all the words I sang were much too far away
They flooded in the wind
I watched them dance and play
Maybe i didn’t hold you dear
Maybe you didn’t see me there
Maybe my vision wasn’t clear
Maybe you didn’t need a friend
I felt your hand holding mine tight
Always there for you
Maybe you didn’t need a friend

My friend standing right by my side
My friend ready to take a ride
My friend someone who’ll never hide
My friend standing right by my side
There was a time when I felt bright
There was a time when I saw light
There was a time I felt like crying too
There was a time when I felt bad
So many times when I felt sad

All of the time I felt like holding you
All the words I sang were much too far away
They flooded in the wind
I watched them dance and play
Maybe i didn’t hold you dear
Maybe you didn’t see me there
Maybe my vision wasn’t clear
Maybe you didn’t need a friend
I felt your hand holding mine tight
Always there for you
Maybe i didn’t need a friend

My friend standing right by my side
My friend ready to take a ride
My friend someone who’ll never hide
Felt like holding you

All the words i sang were much too far away
They flooded in the wind
I watched them dance and play
