[Verse 1]
We walked into the room
You tried to make your move much too soon
And then you cried the blues
Why can't you understand I won't be used?

[Pre-Chorus]
'Cause I've heard all of the lines before
Boy, I'm amazed that you could just ignore
How does a lady find the words to say it?
Why can't you get it through your head, I'm not that way?

[Chorus]
I wasn't for it the very first time
Don't mess with me (baby, don't you mess with me)
I didn't stutter, I didn't think twice
Baby, don't you mess with me

Hey, uh, with your bad self
Baby, don't mess with me (Hoo)

[Verse 2]
You took me for a ride
A fancy restaurant to wine and dine
You thought that it was on (Ha, ha, ha)
I peeped your game and said "Take me home"

[Pre-Chorus]
'Cause I've heard all of the lines before
Boy, I'm amazed that you could just ignore
How does a lady find the words to say it?
Why can't you get it through your head, I'm not that way?
No

[Chorus]
I wasn't for it the very first time, oh no
Don't mess with me (so baby don't you mess with me)
I didn't stutter, I didn't think twice
Baby, don't you mess with me
I wasn't for it the very first time
Don't mess with me (baby, don't you mess with me)
I didn't stutter, I didn't think twice
Baby, don't you mess with me

[Bridge]
Ooh, baby, baby, baby baby
Baby, don't ya mess with me
Ooh, baby, baby, baby baby
Baby, don't ya mess with me

I wasn't for it (Hey, hey, hey)
I didn't stutter

I'm warning you, baby, don't ya mess with me
No, I'm not falling for your games
I've heard your lines so many times

[Chorus]
I wasn't for it the very first time
Don't mess with me (baby, don't you mess with me)
I didn't stutter, I didn't think twice
Baby, don't you mess with me (hey, hey)
I wasn't for it the very first time
Don't mess with me (baby, don't you mess with me)
I didn't stutter, I didn't think twice
Baby, don't you mess with me

[Outro]
Ooh, baby, baby, baby baby
Baby, don't ya mess with me
(Get back, get back, get back)
Ooh, baby, baby, baby baby
Baby, don't ya mess with me

Ooh, baby, baby, baby baby
Baby, don't ya mess with me
Ooh, baby, baby, baby baby
Baby, don't ya mess with me

Uh, with your bad self
Baby, don't mess with me
I said, uh, with your bad self
Baby, don't mess with me
