It all, it all, hopefully in some way - and I don't always drink as much as I did today, but I'm excited. I mean, there's coffee, and then there's wine, and then there's just wine. We hope we've been good ambassadors for this town, as we've travelled around. And you know, not all groups can be proud of their heritage, but we hope we can live up to the legend of all the bands before us, in front of us. Just hold our own ground. And if you can see what we see, and maybe you do, but all the different flags in all different countries, this happens on a nightly basis. Even in Canada, they somehow made it across the border. It's a geography lesson every night with all these flags. We've just gotta tell ya, ya know, Brazil, all these people coming to see Seattle. I would think that this vision of all the flags and all these people here to listen to some music - taking us out of the equation - whatever occurred to have this happen, somebody like Nelson Mandela would be proud. And speaking of Nelson Mandela, he was a huge Mudhoney fan. And ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce to the stage, Mr. Mark Arm and Mr. Steve Turner! C'mon out! Oh, that's not enough. I have no idea what time it is. But, wait a second, let me think. Ladies and Gentlemen of Seattle, Washington, it's time to kick up the jams motherfuckers!

Founded in 1990 in Seattle, Pearl Jam is one of the most successful bands out of the grunge movement, if not of the whole alternative rock scene from the early 90s. The group started with Stone Gossard (guitar) and Jeff Ament (bass), veterans of the proto-grunge scene, recording a demo along with local guitarist Mike McCready. Once the tape passed along, it attracted a San Diego-based singer, Eddie Vedder. Along with drummer Dave Krusen, they signed with Epic Records and released Ten in 1991, which by the following year was becoming one of the most successful debut albums ever.

Growing uncomfortable with success, the following albums went for a more anguished and experimental sound, and the band’s notorious activism had its most prominent case once they boycotted Ticketmaster, accusing them of price-gouging fans. In the meantime, various drummers passed through the band, with percussion only settling once Soundgarden’s Matt Cameron joined them in the tour for 1998’s Yield.

With 10 studio albums and various live recordings (including “Official Bootlegs” of basically every concert the band performed since 2000), Pearl Jam has sold nearly 32 million records in the U.S. and an estimated 60 million worldwide.
