[Chorus]
Baby, you can be my—
Baby, you can be my—
Baby, you can be my—
Baby, you can be my—
Baby, baby

[Verse 1]
You ain't in the mood to argue, so baby, don't you worry
This some shit to get along to, some shit I right my wrongs to
I've tried to call you, have us a discussion
But we never talk no more, we always way too busy fuckin'
I'll think of something to say, I always do
I'm in love with the way that you say my name, every time it sound brand new

[Refrain]
And you, always wonderin' what we'll be
I say we sound better than you or me

[Chorus]
Baby, you can be my—
Baby, you can be my—
And maybe I can be your—
Maybe you can be my—

[Verse 2]
And time will tell if I'm alive and well, 'cause when I'm by myself
I find that I keep flying high, sometimes I must remind myself
That change is more than pennies laying on the floor inside a well
You cross my mind, do not apologize for being fine as hell
I'm spinning here inside your spell, my mind has gone to wander
I missed a day, I stay up late admiring your posture

[Refrain]
And you, always wonderin' what we'll be
I say we sound better than you or me

[Chorus]
Baby, you can be my—
Baby, you can be my—
And maybe I can be your—
Baby, you can be my—

[Bridge]
Na, na
Na, na
Na, na, yeah yeah
Na, na
Na, na
Na, na

[Verse 3]
There's no more you or me, we are we, yes, we are
And I can see, I can see, so much better
And carefully, precious things fall apart
Just let 'em be, let 'em be, forever
Oh, loving me, in spite of me, bless your heart
I can breathe, I can breathe so much better
I won't let anything tear us apart
We are we, we are we, forever

Rayland Baxter

American singer/songwriter Rayland Baxter is an artist whose music is at once mystic and down to earth, focused on the ebb and flow of human relations while wrapped in simple but evocative melodies and sung in a voice that reflects the mysteries of life that are the stuff of his songs.

By the summer of 2010, Baxter had settled in Nashville, and began playing local showcases and open-mike nights; his first EP, The Miscalculation of Song, appeared a few months later.

Baxter’s first album, Feathers & FishHooks, which featured extensive instrumental work by his father, Bucky Baxter, was released by an independent label in 2012, and by the end of the year he had signed with the artist-friendly ATO Records label, which quickly reissued his work. Baxter supported the album with touring, including road dates opening for the Civil Wars and Grace Potter & the Nocturnals. When not touring, he made his home in a ramshackle house in Nashville he shared with several friends and slept on a screened-in porch.
