[Verse 1]
Well, they came around late one night
Yes, they came around to put things right
They found dad's horse at the end of his chain
Oh, thank the Lord, we had moved on

[Chorus]
When lads has got money, lads thinks they're men
But when the man's got no money, they're just lads again

[Verse 2]
We never lingered but kept movin' on
Dad plied his trade and the bread it was won
But us lads did squander, not a penny we'd save
Spent all the money the old man, he made

[Chorus]
When lads has got money, lads thinks they're men
But when the man's got no money, they're just lads again

[Instrumental]

[Verse 3]
Ooh, we're wonderin' what's never done
The old man passed on and he won 'til he'd gone
It took his to close, to open our eyes
To that old song he'd sung all his life

[Chorus]
When lads has got money, lads thinks they're men
But when the man's got no money, they're just lads again

[Instrumental]
