Songwriter: Graham Stack Gary Barlow

[Verse 1]
Standing back I can't believe
How you've led me on
And judging by the things you say
There's gotta be something wrong

[Pre-Chorus]
What you telling me that for
When you don't mean it
What you telling me that for
I don't believe it

[Chorus]
Your promises have never been
Anything you made them seem
So what you gonna promise me this time
You're telling lies, so plain to see
You're trying to make a fool of me
So what you gonna promise me this time
I wanna know

[Verse 2]
Seems like I've been playing your game
And how you think you've won
But when you count up what you've gained
You're the lonely one

[Pre-Chorus]
What you telling me that for
When you don't mean it
What you telling me that for
I don't believe it

[Chorus]
Your promises have never been
Anything you made them seem
So what you gonna promise me this time
You're telling lies, so plain to see
You're trying to make a fool of me
So what you gonna promise me this time
Your promises have never been
Anything you made them seem
So what you gonna promise me this time
You're telling lies, so plain to see
You're trying to make a fool of me
So what you gonna promise me this time
I'll never know

[Pre-Chorus]
What you telling me that for
When you don't mean it
What you telling me that for
I don't believe it

[Chorus]
Your promises have never been
Anything you made them seem
So what you gonna promise me this time
You're telling lies, so plain to see
You're trying to make a fool of me
So what you gonna promise me this time
Your promises, promises, promises
So what you gonna promise me this time
You're telling lies, telling lies, telling lies
So what you gonna promise me this time
Your promises have never been
Anything you made them seem
So what you gonna promise me this time
You're telling lies, so plain to see
You're trying to make a fool of me
So what you gonna promise me this time

Take That

One of Britain’s most successful boy bands, Take That are an English pop group from Manchester, formed in 1990. The group currently consists of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, and Mark Owen. The original line-up also featured Jason Orange and Robbie Williams.

Back in the 90s, they achieved unparalleled success, recording three albums which topped the UK Everything Changes and Nobody Else and Greatest Hits. Some of their biggest hits from then include “Back for Good”, “Pray”, “Everything Changes”, “A Million Love Songs” as well as covers of “Relight My Fire” by Dan Hartman and “It Only Takes a Minute” by Tavares.

Their popularity was unsurpassed in Britain. But tensions started growing and Robbie Williams left the band in 1995. The group disbanded the following year after the four remaining members completed their world tour.
