[Intro: Jermaine Dupri]
Rock
Ah yeah
Pump, pump, pump, pump me up

Yo, if you got a groove that you like and you like it a lot
(Pump it up, pump it up)
If you know the place with the bass that's the neighborhood hot spot
(Pump it up, pump it up)
Hello to that girl in that blue, tell me what you gon' do
(Pump it up, pump it up)
And to that negro in red, tell me what I said
(Pump it up, pump it up)
You gotta keep pumpin'

[Chorus: Xscape]
You gotta keep it pumpin'
(And don't stop, don't stop)
You gotta keep it pumpin'
(Pump, pump, pump, pump it up)
(You gotta keep pumpin')
You gotta keep it pumpin'
(And don't stop, don't stop)
You gotta keep it pumpin'
(Pump, pump, pump, pump it up)
(Kick it)

[Verse 1: Kandi]
I went out looking for a good place
But everywhere I went was dull
I went here, and I went there
But I never found the stuff
But then I met this boy that said
He had the perfect place
That I would just love, yeah
He took me in
Ooh, let me tell you, girlfriend
The place was jumpin'
And it was sho 'nuff pumpin'
(Pumpin')

[Chorus: Xscape]
You gotta keep it pumpin'
You gotta keep it pumpin'
(Pump, pump, pump, pump it up)
You gotta keep it pumpin'
You gotta keep it pumpin'
(Pump, pump, pump, pump it up)
(Yo Kandi, break 'em off)

[Verse 2: Kandi]
I found my spot
Nothing about the place seemed dull
And the stuff I was looking for
I found the stuff
The sound was hot, like I never heard before
The bass was boomin'
And there were people all over the dance floor
Then I met another guy
And he asked me would I like to dance
He showed me steps I never seen before
I walked in
Ooh, let me tell you, girlfriend
The place was jumpin'
And it was sho 'nuff pumpin'
(Pumpin')

[Chorus: Xscape]
You gotta keep it pumpin'
You gotta keep it pumpin'
(Pump, pump, pump, pump it up)
You gotta keep it pumpin'
You gotta keep it pumpin'
(Pump, pump, pump, pump it up)

[Bridge: Xscape & Jermaine Dupri]
That's the way I like it
I like it when it's pumpin'
That's the way I like it
I like it when it's pumpin'
(Pump, pump, pump, pump it up)
That's the way I like it
I like it when it's pumpin'
That's the way I like it
I like it when it's pumpin'
(Pump, pump, pump, pump it up)

Yo, if you got a groove that you like
And you like it a lot
(Pump it up, pump it up)
You know the place with the bass
That's the neighborhood hot spot
(Pump it up, pump it up)
Hello to that girl in that blue
Tell me what 'cha gon' do
(Pump it up, pump it up)
And to the negro in red
Tell me what I said
(Pump it up, pump it up)
You gotta keep pumpin'

[Chorus: Xscape & Jermaine Dupri]
You gotta keep it pumpin'
(Rock, rock to the beat, rock to the beat, don't stop)
You gotta keep it pumpin'
(Rock, rock, rock to the beat, rock to the beat, don't stop)
(Pump, pump, pump, pump it up)
You gotta keep it pumpin'
(Rock, rock, rock to the beat, rock to the beat, don't stop)
(Pump, pump, pump, pump it up)
You gotta keep it pumpin'
(Rock, rock, rock to the beat, rock to the beat, don't stop)
(Pump, pump, pump, pump it up)

[Outro: Jermaine Dupri]
Really doe
(Pump, pump, pump, pump it up)
Don't stop
Uh, don't stop
Check, check, check, check, check, and don't stop
(Pump, pump, pump, pump it up)

Xscape

Xscape is an Atlanta vocal quartet who became one of the most successful R&B groups of the 1990s. The first act signed to Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label, they released three platinum albums and five top 10 pop singles, including the #1 R&B hits “Just Kickin' It” and “Who Can I Run To.”

The group consisted of Kandi Burruss, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, and sisters LaTocha Scott and Tamika Scott. They’re known for their relatable lyrics about love, as well as tracks that fuse hip-hop and R&B. While all four members took turns singing lead, Kandi Burruss' contralto is the Xscape’s best known voice.

While still in high school, Xscape was discovered by Jermaine Dupri in 1991 at an Atlanta talent show. They released their debut album, Hummin' Comin' At Cha, in the fall of 1993. The lead single, “Just Kickin' It,” spent four weeks on top of the R&B singles chart, reaching no. 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100. It remains their biggest hit.
