Put on my blue suede shoes and I boarded the plane
Touched down in the land of the Delta Blues
In the middle of the pourin' rain
W.C. Handy, won't you look on over me
Got a first class ticket and I'm as blue as a boy can be

Yeah I'm walkin' in Memphis
Walkin' with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walkin' in Memphis
Do I really feel the way I feel?

When you love somebody enough
Yeah you'll go wherever she goes
That's how I got to Memphis
How I got to Memphis

Yeah when you love somebody enough
You'll heart will go wherever they go
That's how I got to Memphis
How I got to Memphis

I haven't eaten a bite
In at least three days and three nights
That's how I got to Memphis
How I got to Memphis

I've traveled highways, I've traveled byways
I've been on every plane and car and everything
Oh but I can't find my baby, I walk Beale Street from end to end

Oh if you've seen her could you tell me
Could you tell me where she's gone
'Cause she's why I got to Memphis
Oh she's why I got to Memphis

Oh she'd be mad, she'd be mad and she used to say
"Why don't you come back and see me in Memphis someday?"
That's how I got to Memphis
How I got to Memphis

Oh I haven't eaten a bite
In over three, three Southaven days and nights
And hat's how I got to Memphis
How I got to Memphis

If you love somebody enough
You'll follow wherever they go
That's how I got to Memphis
How I got to Memphis

Yeah in my mind I go back a long time ago
To BB King's and these peoples 130th show
That's how I got to Memphis
I thank God I got to Memphis

Yeah that's how I got to Memphis
How I got to Memphis
One more time
That's how I got to Memphis
How I got to Memphis

Eric Church

Eric Church is an American country music singer-songwriter from Granite Falls, North Carolina. After graduating from Appalachian State University with a business degree in 2000, Eric became engaged to a Spanish teacher from Lenior, NC whose father attempted to deter his musical aspirations by offering him a corporate career in Denver. After turning down her father’s offer, Church’s ex-fiance broke the engagement, giving Church motivation to move to Nashville and begin focusing solely on his music. Recollections of this turning point in Church’s life are heard throughout his lyrical portfolio (most prominently in “Those I’ve Loved”).

After a period of being overlooked by record labels and producers, Church was eventually signed to Capitol Records in 2006, making his debut with the album, Sinners Like Me. The album produced four singles on the Billboard Country Chart, “How ‘Bout You,” “Two Pink Lines,” “Guys Like Me,” and the album’s title track.

His second album, 2009’s Carolina, produced three more “Smoke a Little Smoke,” “Love Your Love the Most,” and “Hell on the Heart.”
