GFRIEND, also known as 여자친구 (yeojachingu), is a six-member South Korean girl group formed by Source Music in 2015. The group consists of Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, Sinb and Umji. The name GFRIEND stands for both a “lovely girlfriend” and a “best friend to count on”. They are recognized for nostalgic concepts, knife-like choreography, but also vocal oriented songs. With their emotional lyrics, melody and their signature powerful performance, the group has forged their own genre of “Powerful Innocence” and “Passionate Sentimentality”. With the recent years, GFRIEND has showcased their range in different types of concepts for their comebacks.

They made their debut with the EP “Season of Glass” on January 15, 2015. GFRIEND won several 2015 female rookie awards and has garnered momentum since their debut despite being from a small company.
