[Verse 1]
You don't have to cry yourself to sleep at night with wet pillows
Girl, I know you're hurt
Did you know that you can dry your pillows with your dreams and smile
It really works
Lay your head back in my arms, oh, I know your worth
So just reach inside your heart and pack your bags
And let's leave this earth

[Hook]
Let's aim high, oh girl
All you gotta do is close your eyes, inhale the sigh and visualize
Let's aim high

[Verse 2]
You work so hard for your boss, to him it's just work
Never considers your dreams, selfish and mean
Damn, that's gotta hurt
Just lay your head back in my arms, girl
I know you're worth
So allow me to abduct your mind with these words
Open your eyes, you're now a bird

[Hook]
Let's aim high, oh girl
All you gotta do is close your eyes, inhale the sigh and visualize
Let's aim high

[Bridge]
You possess the power to do
If you concentrate, mountains will move
If you just believe that it's true
Please make no mistake, I'll be there too

[Outro]
You possess the power to do
If you concentrate, mountains will move
And if you just believe that it's true
Make no mistake, I'll be there too
Let's aim high

John Legend

John Legend was born in 1978 in Ohio. He became an in-demand session musician and songwriter, working with such artists as Alicia Keys, Twista and Janet Jackson. He was soon introduced to up-and-coming hip-hop artist Kanye West, and the two musicians collaborated on one another’s demos.

J. Ivy claims credit for bestowing the “Legend” moniker upon John Stephens (with an assist from Kanye West). Via

Kanye was like, ‘Have you heard of this singer called John Stephens?’ He played me this song from him, that I think will.i.am produced. It was so refreshing and soulful. An hour later, John Stephens comes into the studio. I told him, ‘I heard your music. It’s so amazing. It sounds old school. Man, you sound like one of the legends. You’re a legend. Matter of fact, that’s what I am going to call you from now The Legend. A couple days later, we were in the lounge of the studio (Record Plant) and John Stephens walks in and everyone shouts him out. I was like, ‘John Legend!’ Kanye then said, ‘You’re John Legend from now on. That’s your name!’”
